Helping to shop for a SF. Keep finding " Viking Rybovich" on 1988 & 89 45 and up. Can not find any data on either companies web sites. When did these companies work together and why (how)?
Hi rcrapps, I went through 24 pages of Google for a Viking/ Rybovich collaboration, got bored, so I didn't find anything either. I did however see an SF listed on yachtworld that was a Viking/Hatteras/Bertram/Rybovich for sale...go figure that one!
Is it worth asking Michael Rybovich on his Facebook page? https://www.facebook.com/RybovichandSonsBoatWorks
Hi Fishtigua, Yeah buddy I don't do Facebook or any other social media. I prefer my privacy. But thanks for the suggestion. I really don't need to know that bad.
They never did work together. I'm guessing it is a Viking boat that might have been maintained or updated by Rybovich.
A Merritt/Hatteras? That's what my boat was listed as. The Previous Owner had spent $750,000 with Merritts in retrofitting my Hatteras 53. It's still a Hatteras to me, with some beautiful boat work, but that could be what you are looking at rcrapps. Perhaps a Viking that was given a major re-fit at Rybovich.
One click on Google, and I found this: http://tolimages6.traderonline.com/img/6/dealer/4912000/99958819_3.jpg?t=1168245
Yes, That is the emblem. Not on one or two, a few and the boats look like the others. Maybe the fishing setup/trim and fighting chair make up the Rybo handle. Think I'll call Viking Monday. Oh, we're leaning back to that old Hat again. The Vikings have the 6-71 TIBs & TD507s That I like, The Hat has way more interior but the 8v92TAs & MH clutches that I don't like (boat shopper does).
I have been thinking of you,,,,, Yep, seal leaking between clutch & engine, port side. Clutch still works fine. No room to work. Have to cut up saloon deck to raise the clutch. I'm afraid the 7045 injectors are still in the 92s also. Already quoted shopper $10k plus to fix (tried my best to scare him away). It's a dock queen but a big one and the shopper is in love with her. Low ball offers start tomorrow.
The Hat is a dock queen as noted. Lots of equipment removed and dead. Poor/little maintenance for several years. The price has come down this last year that reflects SOME of these shortcomings by the seller. I'm not sure it it would be proper (at this time) to publish the asking price, but were starting our offer approx $25k less than asking price and purchase the boat with some known mechanical issues. Were getting the feeling that the seller can not afford to fix anything.
A percentage below asking price would be easier for everyone to figure out. 10% below ask, 20% etc.....but anways, well just think of it this way, there will be plenty of work for you to do. If the owner gets it reasonable enough, he can put the electronics he wants and new ones, and hopefully be in budget.
My dear Skippy J. I've never been in a bilge before? There are two patches above the mains blowers. The rest of the overhead is pretty, glassed in liner.
Then that would be close to giving the asking price away. And re-rigging the bridge & galley. New furniture and staterooms softgoods are included in the asking vs offer numbers.
no worries rcapps, I don't want specifics on $ or actual boat...I am thinking that low ball is below 10% off asking in this day and age, what are you guys thinking?
10% off is not a low ball. 30% might be. All depends on the listing and how much over value it is listed for.
