Are there any Senior Members going to attend the FLIBS? If so, there's a couple of boats, I'd like your opinion on. Ocean Alexander is introducing their 100 foot MY, and I'd like a first impression of the new Viking 95 Enclosed Bridge. I wish I had the time to make it to the show this year...but alas, duty calls. Please advise.
I have to run 2 boats to and from the show. So I'll be there before and after it opens.....but I'd like to see some of the new models that are out, so I will probably go this year.

Ill be there Thursday, Friday and Monday. Taking Saturday off to attend a competition. Tom Serio should be there all 5 days and I'm sure he'll upload shots, however we won't publish pics of boats scheduled for reviews until the review goes live. The OA 100 is one of those boats, pending access and a sea trial. The Viking on the hand... do we really need a 95' boat to catch a 5 foot fish? I'm headed to the NBAA today. Away for the week...
Not really, but I think it's for the buyer that wants a motoryacht with the speed, ride, and stability of a SF. For all practical purposes you cannot fit into half of the marina's that you'd generally go to to pursue game fish. Not to mention the size of it makes it a real challenge to catch real gamefish also. Personally I feel 75' is about the very maximum size that you can really truely fish properly. I worked the cockpit on a 75' SF before and it was a true handful to stay on top of all of the rods. It was almost like playing basketball running back and forth.
For all intensive purposes, Mea Culpa is a cockpit motor yacht........Does it really look much different than Lady Sandals the old Feadship built by ***** besides being a little more modern? No I would have no interest in working the cockpit of Mea Culpa.
I haven't seen the specs on the Viking 95 but up on plane, she probably burns enough fuel to barely get out of sight of land. I do like the two tiered Mezzanine. I guess somebody would buy the 95 for a lot of guests, and a small handful of fishermen. I can't imagine taking a boat that size on the tournament schedule. If I remember my tournament days, most owners that fish tournament's have ego's as large as their bank accounts. I'm sure Viking will do very well with the 95...a LOT of people have been looking forward to their new flagship.
The new 92 will be at the show, not sure when the 95 will appear though. Captain reports 37.2 knots with the MTU 16V2000's at 2635 HP and a great ride. I was onboard last Friday and very impressed with size of the galley and the bridge layout, fit and finish as expected. # 1 to be delivered after FLIBS with six more confirmed orders. As to fuel burn, remember the old saying, "a client went up to a Rolls Royce salesman and asked the cost of their new model, the reply was, sir if you have to ask you obviously can't afford to buy it". Lol.
180 GPH for both engines is pretty high for 2600hp 16v2000's????? I know the 2000hp version burns 150gph (both) 75gph per engine at 80%. To the other poster......reading comprehension would be key. My statement stated......so the boat's cruise is probably 33 knots at 180gph.....(for the entire boat, like you know, both engines....) Here is what the 16v2000's burn at 100% load according to MTU's website: Fuel consumptionl/h (gal/h)502.8 (132.8) (each engine). 80% load it seems to be 190GPH for both engines, which is right around what I quoted.
It's about right for the HP. A set of C32 acerts burns 140gph at cruise. The one with the 2000hp 16v2000's cruised at 35 knots, 1950-1970 rpms and about 79% load 75 gph each engine, traditional props/2.5" splined shafts.
