Just returned from Venice visiting Architecture Biennale. Wanted to share some pics of Altair, Wind Surf and Carinthia VII!
There is really nothing more elegant than beautiful yachts gracing the Grand Canal!! Thanks for sharing!! Did you by chance see the exhibit "Spontaneous Interventions" sponsored by The Institute for Urban Design?
...I respectfully disagree. Anywhere else in the world, these would be a fabulous sight to behold, but in Venice, I think they are eyesores. I don't think the beauty of modern ships is compatible with Venice's beauty. I love yachts and I love Venice, but if you put them side-by-side, Venice wins. But that's just me. Thank you for sharing the photos!
This year at Venice... Well, another year, some more picts... (Gael, Noor, Ari, all in front of Gardini)
I was fortunate enough to see the new 117m "Ulysses" this morning. Picture do not giver her justice she really is a beast. Yachts of this size dock between the cruise ships and the area is somewhat restricted so I apologize for the quality of the picutures.
For me the VanDutch 40 seems to be a custom version and resembles more a Vandutch/ Wallypower crossover with this hardtop. You cant see it form the pictures but Ulysses has got a huge gym on the maindeck which is a bit unusal but the big sliding doors (5 on this deck) can open it up nicely. It also seemed like at least 6 guest suites on the upperdeck have got private terraces. Another nice feature.
Initially "Katherine" moored next to some poles in the middle of the canal but with the upcoming storm yesterday they must have decided to go alongside for more safety and comfort. As on Ulysses the deckhands just began to set her up for the day this morning.
