I have the boat. I need crew with the financial resources to campaign her in the Summer in New England and the Winter anywhere else. Unique opportunity. Open to discussion. 67' 1953 steel Abeking & Rasmussen yawl ENCHANTA
Let me get this straight. You're looking for crew to pay to move your yacht to different places and maintain it for free? Is this some kind of joke?
Unless you've misstated something this is indeed a unique opportunity. At least it has been since about 1865. Crew is to be paid. Your post looks like you've bought a boat and are now looking for someone to build it into a business for free.
No he says he's owned it since 1991. I do have one question for the OP. Along the same lines, I'm looking for a restaurant that will pay me daily to come eat there. I see you are a restaurateur. Would you pay me to come eat at your restaurant?
I've never been accused of being naive. I am hoping to find a couple (or a few people) who would be in a financial position to willingly campaign and maintain a classic yawl in exchange for complete use of her. If you are not in that position, I really do not appreciate your vapid remarks.
Maybe we're missing something about your proposition as it just makes no sense to us on the surface. Perhaps it's a language issue. Maybe you could elaborate a bit. You want them to campaign it? What exactly do you mean by that? You emphasize financial position. Are they supposed to then do improvements to the boat, just maintain and use it, pay you for using it as in a rental or charter? You aren't by any chance the previous owner of the Bounty are you? Just seems like a similar arrangement is why I'm asking.
Takes a special mind to appreciate the beauty of a classic. 1953 Abeking & Rasmussen Custom Ocean Cruising Yawl Sail Boat For Sale P.S.- An ajustment should be made to her listings. ENCHANTA's rugged steel hull does not equal Hull Material Wood
Just a minor little contradiction. So are you basically looking to sell the boat but if you can't sell it to rent it out?
I really do not appreciate your vapid remarks. Our sincere apologies. Perhaps you could give us some substantive information on your proposition. I don't believe my trustee will release any funds until I can explain this arrangement to her with more precision than - "this gal's got a boat, I wanna knock around in it this winter in the Med, and no, I don't know if she comes with the boat!" Thank you in advance.
What is the vessels current condition? Are you willing to charter it? If so would the captain and crew be allowed to keep 100% of the income to cover their costs and the expenses needed to run the boat? Are you willing to spend any of your own money to maintain the boat?
By campaign her.....do you mean race her in one of those bucket races........the rust bucket race of New England?
I think I know why she isn't answering. He said more than just disliking vapid comments. Read carefully. She said, "I've never been accused of being naive." I think that must be what is missing. She is waiting to respond until someone accuses her of being naive. That's just my guess, but then I'm vapid and naive.
I m not sure I understand why the poster is being ridiculed... Yes the post is a little vague on the details of the arrangements but why jumping all over it. By campaigning it is clear the poster is referring to racing the boat on the classic circuit. This is obviously not your th so diesel burning plastic fantastic drivers position... Assuming the boat is sea worthy, I can see the benefits and appeal for both sides. For the crew, it is a unique opportunity to enjoy a historical vessel and for the owner it is a way to keep the budget low, keep the boat maintained and active. Not as crazy as it seems ASSuming the poster is legit and the boat is race ready,
I'm not a sail boater, but I don't see a 67' 1953 steel yawl racing. My guess would be more for the tourist trade for which there would be very little business in that area. I do think constructive criticism would probably be more helpful to the owner than ridicule, but both should serve to educate the OP. Such as pointing out that there's a good possibility that a person responding to what he's asking for could very well be looking for nothing more than a place to squat while he sells off anything of value on the boat. There are possibilities, but I believe he needs to iron out more details before he proceeds. Maybe he needs to approach it more as a true partnership with partial ownership involved, look at different locations, develop a business plan, etc.
