Does anyone know how many of the Molokai Straight's 75 that have been built. Any first hand experiences with one?:)

One was enough. The original Molokai Strait needed "tons" of ballast added to the keel to compensate for the naval architect's miscalculations. A self proclaimed expert who made a name for himself on a couple of boat forums, his foray into real boats was a disaster. We have since removed all of his posts from YF.

    Hi,

No mention of that wee oversight here: Review: Molokai Strait 75' "Hercules" - YachtForums.Com

Written before we realized a certain liability. Now we sea trial every boat we review. Can't tell you how many haven't made the cut, hence the front page of YF gets stale at times. And while some boats pass the test, some builders boycott unless they can have the final editorial say. Sorry, but I don't play by the rules that govern magazine ad sales.

The reason I left the MS review in place is because Google indexed it, therefore bringing potential buyers here to discover better options.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes K1W1.

About time someone stands up, our Industry needs more reviews that tell it like it really is. We should all be striving to make products that can pass the appropriate scrutiny.

After all these years of reading untold magazine articles, I am sick and tired of all the sugar coating. It is so apparent when reading the bs and fluff statements, which ultimately do not serve the customer. Unhappy customer = diminishing customer base = floundering industry :(

    Holy sh!t..
I had a dialogue with the designer on this forum questioning the large super structure and the small hull but he defended the design as being desired by the marketing people and it was sound.

    Guess not.
