Hi folks, My friends & I run a regatta here in the region. It's the only regatta that goes to the equator (as far as I know) and has a motor yacht fleet alongside for support and partying. We have just completed our 3rd one last month ... we are delighted with the response. This year we also had 2 camera crews and a presenter from the Discovery channel filming for a "special" on us !!! Dayam !!! If you wish to see pictures of this years race, there are hundreds on our FB page. Enjoy !!! P.S. I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules ...
btw, some info on this race to the equator ... - 40 yachts & 10 powerboats - starts & ends at nongsa marina, indonesia, over 7 days - we take over a deserted island 67nm south of nongsa - we set up a tent city to house & feed approx. 300 folks - logistics involves over 25 tons of gear, incl. food & a LOT of booze ... - nothing is left behind ... we bring back abt 2 tons of rubbish - we get the support of the indonesian navy that sets up a 20nm exclusion zone for us
that's it guys ... hundreds over there on fb ... & real easy to locate ... but here it is ... https://www.facebook.com/Neptune.Regatta?fref=ts

a pre-regatta report by our friends over at asian yachting ... Neptune Regatta 2014 - AY Pre-Regatta Report
Race Report 1, once again by our friends over at asian yachting ... Neptune Regatta 2014 - AY Race Report 1 Day two and the whole fleet converges on Neptune Island, from where there's no internet connection so pretty much radio silence until the racing classes get back to Nongsa on Friday evening.
The 2014 Spirit of Neptune winner will receive a truly one of a kind chronograph watch. The serial number 000 made by Offshore Professional in the UK with Swiss movement. Notice the Neptune Trident on the face, winder and cut into the spin wheel behind the glass back. We like!!!! FYI, this prize is awarded to an individual or skipper of a boat that shows the most fun, comaradeire or act of kindness/assistance in a time of need. Past winners have dressed the boat/crew up for the equator crossing, another dropped out of racing to assist others and last year was best party boat.
