Our Season is about to start, my Hatteras is on the hard getting ready for November. Hoping for a few less storms than last year. See you 2014 K1W1, you won't need the Red Robot! This happened in Cairns this week. Marlin comes aboard, Deckie abandons ship! Usually not a humorous time, when a Marlin decides to change direction but this one is VERY funny: LiveLeak.com - Big fish jumps into the boat.
So much for big brave fishermen. The one deckie goes overboard, nobody even gives him a glance. The fisherman just wants to get the hell into the cabin. At least the one mate keeps his mind on the job. Hope he got a bonus.
Hi, Kafue I might actually be in Sydney next couple of weeks for a sea trial , I should see if can re jig my connection to stop in Brisvegas on the way.
The fisherman was interviewed last night on TV. You would think he thought it was a joke that was for his entertainment. I agree, the wireman should have dropped everything to help his Mate, but I suppose he was trying to get the lines and rods out the way. The fisherman is a coward. He could not get out that chair fast enough and head for the cabin. Although I still think it is amusing (accidents that end well usually are) imagine if the skipper was backing down fast enough to suck the deckie under the stern or the MANY sharks in the area, following the action, thought it was a good time for a bite to eat.
With not so many sharks here in the Med, if it was me the dekie going overboard in your waters, would have jumped back into cockpit faster than Marlin did!
Happened here locally. Fish on, backing up into a big swell, deckie goes overboard. Literally went between the props of a 51' boat and popped up out in the ocean forward of the bow. Won't say who it was.
Another argument against "fast" back ups. I bet the Skipper had already had her in neutral, just the inertia. As for the smaller Marlin, Capt J., they can cause a LOT more problems than the big old girls. The young Blacks will be here on the Gold Coast this month and they jump around like Greyhounds.
You're right, All of the small ones I've caught (under 150lbs) were the ones that jumped quite a bit. With all of the bigger ones, I've never had one jump. What I meant was it was nothing to jump overboard for, there's plenty of room in the cockpit to do the dance with him......LOL
