It's almost a given you'd spend time with it. Between 24 cylinders, 8,000 RPM and a marine environment... what could possibly go wrong?

You forgot 12 dual Webber carbs to try to keep in sync.

That sounds like a melted piston everytime you run the boat. Better have a bunch of vaccuum gauges to adjust all the carbs.....hehehe

Hey guys, that's an Italian raceboat. You're not supposed to actually use them, just look at them.

Beautiful boat and I'm glad someone restored it. I do hope the owner has factored into operating costs a mechanic in a fully equipped chase boat.

So what are we thinking here restoration cost wise?

$2,000 per engine for a respray, new plugs and retune;
$10,000 to redo the hull and top sides;
An extra $5,000 for the custom drink holders and interior (yes maybe I allowed tooo much here, but they always sting you on the extra bits)
$1,500 to shine up the shiny bits;
Say $2,000 for electrics;
Another $2000 for transport etc etc.

so that's.... $24,500. And not a penny more.

Actually throw in an extra $10 for a can of aero start, and reliability on cold mornings is assured.

And who said boats were expensive. Hard to believe we are not all out restoring old boats.

Just this little bit of work would eat up your pennies faster than the thing drinks gas.

Although the Ferruccio Lamborghini Museum wasn't prepared to sell one of the engines that originally powered the vessel and which remains in its collection, the curators did permit the team to disassemble it to recreate the parts in order to transform another set of original 350 GT engines – complete with six pairs of Weber carburetors – to the same condition.

And then you need a guy like that. With not a lot of tools, but knowledge. Quite a bit of it.

Now that's what I call spacious all-around engine access.
