Here is a thread to discuss or share photos and other relevant information for the newly launched 50-meter all-aluminium semi-displacement yacht "Crazy Me". David has taken a bunch of photos of this yacht on his site. I must say she is a very interesting looking yacht especially from Heesen, nice to see a slight departure from the norm! Honestly she hardly looks 50-meters LOA!
I was just about to post a picture of it at the roque ugly thread. Heesen 50 meter (164 ft) "Crazy Me" project 16250 superyacht | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Seriously not my style.
"crazy me" looks like the heavy handicapped brother of "Purple Passion" see picture below. Roberto Cavalli's yacht Cannes Marina | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
I am speechless! Is there a deck missing or are they able to retract the wheelhouse. From this day on, RM Elegant is a beautifull yacht.
Loll, for some reason I like it though, it's not that bad as you all make it seem. It's different but not terrible. Makes me wonder what the view out the bridge is like though. Glad for a few different looking yachts than cookie-cutter designs month after month.
Looks curved. Unusual to see a pool with glass both under and towards the stern, especially on a yacht this size. She makes a Mangusta 165 look very conservative
I do not know about most people on YF. But I love to boat and I love to enjoy the view. This boat looks like it has very poor visibility. Heck I am having a hard time seeing the helm. But someone must love her.
Big vote of confidence from the owner to ask Heesen to build him a fully custom yacht. Most difficult way of yacht building. Hopefully this will lead to more one off megayachts from Oss. Besides: most superyachts look out of place in Holland anyway imo. In their natural habitat, the Med or Caribbean, extreme shapes and/or colors are more acceptable I think. On the one had it's an OMG! WTF!-yacht, but on the other hand: would people take a second look at yet another canoe sterned classic? Or the usual 13-in-a-dozen charter boat? It is not a boring yacht, makes me want to look more closely, like in "where's the bridge?" What are those top side fold out things, passerelles? Owner also likes to shock people I think
It is sure a far cry from Aurelia, which happens to be one of my favorites. I think this is really the first ugly thing I have seen from them.. Certainly belongs in the rogues thread. Has someone at Heesen gone insane? Don't see much resale value here.
Sometimes a yacht looks very nice on the drawing table, but it just doesn't always comes out as nice in real life..................
I would not blame Heesen. The owner gets what he wants. But IMHO, the builder has the duty, to inform the buyer about the consequences of such a design, like for example the resale value. The other aspect is the visibility out of the wheelhouse. With just this two pictures, we can not judge this point jet. But I must say, I am still speechless. I take the point, that the owner might just want to provocate with this design. Or maybe, its a new stealth design. If I would bring home such a yacht, my family would put me in a straightjacket. And that for a good reason.
It looks like Moby Dick being transported on top of a houseboat. It's definitely not my taste but I bet the owner loves it.
