I live there for more than 10 years and don't recognize the typical Dutch reaction from 'ombreetsolei'... The Dutch think they know everything better, but be ware... Of course there is always something, wherever you go (Holland for instance with all their insane rules), but Curaçao is (not too) quite, relaxed and outside the hurrycan belt! Give it a try and you will see!
I am happy that you like living on Curacao. But I am not happy that I am paying for your amenities. There is also a big Shell oil company factory of which everybody on the island knows that there is a big environmental problem with it. 3 weeks ago there was a documentary on Dutch television about that factory. More than 10 deaths a year beacuse of that factory smogs. And schools in the area have a lot of sick children with eye problems etc. This is not my personal opinion but a fact. And all those cheap flights coming in every day from The Netherlands..........It doesn't create a nice caribbean atmosphere. Don't get me wrong I am happy for mr p46-curucao. But when I think of a nice tropical island it's definetely not a flat, windy, corrupt, drug infested, crowded, cactus island. I would be more thinking about The grenadines. No offence.
Just some facts Shame and scandal in the family: Curaçao - DutchNews.nl - Features Nice laid back island.
This happened yesterday..........Need I say more? Curacao politician Helmin Wiels fatally shot by gunmen at beach
On a happier note and still as a fan of Nevis, West Indies, the latest (May) issue of Yachting Magazine has two sections on St. Kitts and Nevis. Here is the Nevis portion about the "Nevis Yacht Club"...small, rustic and devoted to getting kids sailing. Have a look. Sails Pitch | Yachting Magazine Cheers, Richard.
Grenada or Caymans I've not seen anyone mention Grenada ?? Grenada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ...supposedly on the upswing after US invasion, and now British investment I think?? Nor the Cayman Islands?? Cayman Islands - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ...a friend recommends them over all the others
