It is probably a Royal Yacht Squadron ensign as that is the same flag and carries a lot of weight with harbour masters when trying to get a mooring in a busy harbour in the dead of night.

Not that i'm bitter or anything but losing the last berth in St Peter Port at 0400hrs many years ago to a yacht that arrived well after me seems to have stuck somewhere in my head! Who was to know that my Royal Cornwall Yacht Club ensign could be trumped so easily.

RYS @ Cowes Castle is the only Uk based YC allowed to fly the White Ensign . It doesn't have the same exclusiveness like it did before in the very early days of the YC ...
