The founder of Connecticut-based Stew Leonard's grocery store chain is facing a lawsuit alleging the reckless operation of his powerboat caused the death of a passenger last year. Barbara Speranza is seeking millions of dollars in damages against Stewart Leonard Sr., his son Thomas Leonard and the company that owns the boat for the death of her husband, Robert. Speranza was swept off the boat and died. Speranza's attorneys say the boat was operated at high speeds in dangerous seas near the Caribbean island of Tortola. Joel Faxon, Speranza's attorney, says it's unclear if the boat was operated by Leonard, his son or an employee. Soundbounder, Almost every post you have made on YF leads traffic to a local boating website you are affiliated with. No doubt this adds to the website's stats and ultimately, bottom line. Your link has been removed. To prevent further temptation, the URL has been added to YF's no link list.
Hi, Is it a full moon tonight? Might be a solar flare hangover causing the odd lurker to surge forth to vent
What kind of boat does Stew have? Btw, my wife loves Stew Leonards store. He has a grocery store in Yonkers and a liquor store on Long Island
I have no financial interest in Boating Local or the New Haven Register, other than I have written several stories for them, and my photos have been used by both sites (no pay BTW). I will remove the NHR link as well. Since my articles have also appeared in Newsday, Newark Star Ledger, and Offshore, I will also refrain from posting any of their news items. Happy weekend!
