Presumably, the previously fastened anchor came loose thus causing the ship to lose the anchor.

I do have an interest for older maritime artifacts but that excludes you

I thought it might have been from our dink, which we lost a hook some years back, however that one looks a *little* bigger than the one we misplaced. :p

    Hi,

This anchor might not be as big as the others in this thread but it sure was old and caused some big challenge to get it out of the chain.

Photo taken the day after Hurricane Klaus was through St Thomas in Nov 1984.

Well wait a minute. That is only part of a story. What did any one do next with that anchor in it's web? (Before internet web Ha!) How did you get it un-done to move on with? Where is that old anchor now?

    Hi,

After first looking at cutting the shank of it we managed to get it untangled by using a line from the bow of the yacht.

What made it tricky was the fact that we were at anchor in the harbour and the boat would keep moving around and taking tension on the chain when we thought we had a way to get it out.

Back at the bottom of Charlotte Amalie Harbour if it hasn't been picked up and removed by someone else.
