Has anybody here had any experience with these guys or have you heard anything good about them? I have not been able to find any reviews anywhere. Thanks.
Nope because nobody has heard of it untill you mentioned it .. unless you yourself happen to be on the books of Sunseeker hence the question .. Plus why take the long road for a short cut askin here when you could have simply emailed Sunseeker direct they do have a website and various offices around the world lol If your not SSker employeee then my apologies
The Sunseeker Club is the name of the Sunseeker dealer in New York. They use to have several locations from Maryland to New York, but I think they closed or sold the other locations. It is, as far as I know, the official dealer in the New York area. The name isn't the best... I use to see them represent Sunseeker at several mid-atlantic boat shows.
I have to say people on forums are some of the most suspicious people ever. Also, sure, if I want to hear a salesman's pitch I'll just call Sunseeker. Hell, while I'm at it, I could just call the Sunseeker Club in New Rochelle. Generally speaking when you are spending multiple million dollars on something it's best to do your own independent research. Sure you can hire some "consultant" and just go by what they say, but I like to hear from real people and their experiences, good and bad. Also, being that you are in Scotland, I'm not surprised you have not heard of a New York dealer.
I never had any problems with the guys at New Rochelle and the owner and the salesman that I dealt with certainly knew their stuff about Sunseekers. There as alot of Politics going on with Sunseeker UK, Sunseeker USA, Sunseeker Florida etc etc. The most successful broker and the most knowledgeable on any model is Rick Obey of Atlantic Yacht & Ship in Fort Lauderdale however the Florida area was sold to a Mexican who moved the sales office down to Miami leaving a token one in Lauderdale. Atlantic yacht & Ship "Northeast" became partners with the Sunseeker Club in New Rochelle but then there was a parting of the ways and Sunseeker Club held onto the New York Dealer network and AYS Northeast became the dealer above New York and south of New York to the Florida Border. I would have no problem dealing with the Sunseeker Club but then again I would go to Rick Obey if I was buying anything over 50 foot. and before you ask I do not work for Sunseeker UK, Sunseeker Club or Atlantic Yacht & Ship and alot of us have heard of them ....now what is Scotland, is that a city in England ?
That's Castaways. I believe the fellow there is Alan. It's been about 3 years since I've been in there, but I've had several clients who've used them and were quite satisfied (44, 46 & 60 Peds and a 62 Man). Just be careful getting in there. The Channel is well marked, but there are a couple of nasty rocks in that area. I suggest coming in between City Island and Hart Island rather than the route in from the east past Davids Island. That one is a bit tricky, but again, well marked.
Dealing with Sunseeker Florida is like holding your breath and trying not to pull your teeth out......It's amazing how it takes 2 months to have a shower door that broke (shattered) while sitting at the dock and nobody taking a shower and on a $4 million yacht. Customer service at it's best........
Which yacht was this? I hate quality inconsistency like where you have something that is mostly high quality but with some random flaky part. I don't expect perfection, just consistency. I may not love everything about the yacht, but all major components should be off the same level. I saw a $5 million dollar yacht with woods that just seemed to detract from the rest of the ship. I know it's customizable but it was still tough to look at in the midst of all the beauty that surrounded it. Now that's a horrible example I know. I was more referring to a high quality ship with for example a cabinet door handle that comes right off the first time you use it. Add to that an attitude of "How DARE you criticize such a fine yacht!?" and you have a very sickening customer service incident.
There's been a lot of discussion on YF recently about the trade off of 'save a buck' vs; pay more to hire the right people. Glass has defects. Sometimes they go boom. Glad nobody was hurt, but we understand that these things happen, Unfortunately companies aren't carrying a lot of inventory these days, because it's just too expensive. 2 months is a long time, but that's the world we're in these days. But the attitude, no. He should be apologetic and as helpful as possible. sounds like some one's in the wrong job, or worse, it's an attitude that's fostered by the company. That became very prevalent in the 90's when houses and boats were in huge demand. As Bob Dylan sang, "the times they are a'changin/. Right now companies need customers more than customers need luxury products. I think companies would be better served looking to the 60' and '70 for their business models rather than the late 90'-early 2000's.
Sunseeker Club I know the Sunseeker Club well. I have bought 3 yachts from them. Happy to describe my experiences to anyone that is considering purchasing from them. Without getting into details here it is doubtful I would do business with them again as a dealer... the product is wonderful though.
