hey everyone, very curious, lumitec's seablaze 3 underwater lights are made from a marine grade aluminium and is said to be coated with a hardcoat layer. I know that you can choose either to paint or not to paint these underwater lights. My question is, as everything under the waterline of my boat is brass (thru hull fittings) has lumitec protected the housing from acting as a zinc and corroding? Their website gives me the impression so as they say in their FAQ section that not painting the light in any way will NOT affect it. I e-mailed them and they gave me a quick reply but not exactly what i was looking for, can you guys help me out? all of you with lumitec lights?
I was a big fan of these lights and had installed several on various boats that I've owned over the last couple of years. I installed seven of them on my 63' Predator, they worked fine for about a month then started going out. When we hauled the boat and inspected the lights, four out of the seven had water intrusion and had turned black. I hate to say it, spend the extra money and get the Ocean LED's.
The predator was the first boat that you had problems with these lights tho? I'v already purchased them, have never heard bad feedback about them from anyone yet. Did you have good experience with them before?
Re read my post, I have used them on at least 3 other boats without a problem and was one of their most ardent fans till the last set on the predator.
