hi, we have a 1995 carver 325 aft. If there is anyone who has a like vessel can you please respond. we would like to start a chat to see what we can learn about our girl and maybe share some info, thanks
Welcome to YF carver 325 and tommyfmu. If you type Carver into the search feature you'll meet up with several Carver owners and threads concerning Carvers. Good luck with your new boats. Stay safe and have a great summer.
Thanks NYCAP. We're upgrading from a Maxum 24' pocket cruiser which was awesome with all the bells and whistles; found a lot of info on that boat in various forums. I'm hoping to find lots of info on our new boat too; this forum seems to be the most extensive from what I've seen. Happy 4th
carver love! we moved up from a sea ray 240 sundeck. we love our aft. we have made many improvments to her if you have any questions feel free to ask. we have went through her from bow to transom.
Thanks! I'm sure we'll have many questions once I assimilate all that went on while driving her home today. Our Seatow membership finally paid for itself when we had to get ungrounded lol. Being used to a 24' er it was just raise the outdrive and get clear. Big lessen, don't deviate from the channel. Secondly, I though the engines were failing when I couldn't get above 12 knots no matter how high I revved the rpm's, then dropped the nose with the trim tabs and it increased to normal, so second crash course (no pun intended) was how important they are for the boat to perform right. One last problem today was the port engine would periodically lose power. Luckily the guy who sold it to us was with me and figured it must need the fuel filter changed and did it while underway, and it seemed to fix the problem. More to come
cool after you get her home change the secondary fule filter, it is located under the the plastic cover just above the fule injectors. with the fule injected 350s its is importand to keep constant fule pressure. between the two filters there is a nipple that looks like a valve stem on a tire. take off the cap and check your fule pressure and make sure you have around 20 psi.any standard psi gauge will work they have a two stem fule pump with a throtle body return line so pressure is very important. have someone at the helm turn the key one click and the fule pump will turn on and you will hear her start this is the time to check for pressure. have a great 4th and be safe! robert
Thanks Robert, although our engines are carburetted not EFI ; does what you advise above still apply? I'm planning on cleaning the spark arrestors, change stbd fuel filter, oil and filter in port engine, and slow the port shaft packing drip, as a start. I read the whole 325 manual 'till 5am the other day; a ton of info but very complete.
Is this on the 7.4l MPI engines as well? I've had the plastic injector cover off many times, but never noticed a secodary fuel filter.
Update after reading over old posts; new port engine being installed today. Lost all its oil to the bilge 2 times and screwed up the bearings due to pressure differential or something. Instead of repair, was advised to replace due to engine hours etc. which made sense.
Make sure low oil alarm works I lost a motor the same way ,I bought the 355 motoryacht in your marina in freeport similar systems if you need any advice ,it took me awhile
I had a 36 cruisers inc. with twin 454 crusaders and the line on the remote oil coller broke and I lost oil pressure and the alarm I never heard ,spun the bearings ,If I heard it I could of saved the motor. On the aftcabin motor yachts it is expensive to do the motors because there in the salon ,so baby them and do the oil changes regularly. Now I got the carver 355 motor yacht and it is a great boat ,so happy ,alot of different systems but you learn them. I even found out my batt charger is also an ac inverter that powers the whole boat except for the a/c while on batts with no gen. Love this boat
That's exactly what happened on my port motor. Remote oil filter adapter broke, all oil spilt into bilge within like 30 seconds, no alarm, engine shut off by itself but didn't seize, but bearings spun after second time it happened.
How do you do that? I've done more than a few engineroom checks and never triggered an alarm in the process.
Most oilpressure sensors have 2 leads 1 for variable resistance to show pressure readings and1 for just a ground when it sees little or no pressure that goes to light and buzzer ,if you use a buzzer then hook it up to the Light
your carver 325 , 96 I have carver 96 , 325 aft cabin. I am having trouble getting to the stuffing box to change the packing on starboard side . have you changed yours? , if so any suggestions ? I would great appreciate any help or guideance. do you have to remove the exhasut hoses? thanks ROn
your carver 325 , 95 i have a carver 325, 1996. have you had to change your packing in stuffing box ? if so any suggestioins in getting to it. ? i can not get to it on starborard side. can get only one wrench on it but no leveage to open. would greatly apprecate any advise>
I've never done it, and it's probably something I'd hire my marina mechanic to do, but it makes sense [I've read the whole manual many times] to have to remove the exhaust 'jumper' hose between the manifolds for access.
