    Hello

My name is Dustin I am looking to shoot a scene of a TV Pilot on a Yacht in South Florida area. (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca).

The Yacht will not need to move we will only need it for a few hours and it will be a cast & crew of 8.

The TV Pilot is about 2 friend trying to make it in the music business.

The best example I can give you the show is similar to entourage.

I am not a production house so I am on a slim budget.

Please contact me with price & photo.

    Thank you

    Hello

    Thank you for your concern.
As a smaller production company it is much harder to get locations.
I can tell you I am 100% legit.
I am just looking for locations online to save time & money from scouting location to location.

    Thank you
    Dustin

Any nicer private yacht is going to have daily costs that are most likely out of your budget- not to mention insurance costs for a TV production onboard. GL on your search.

He could probably find somebody that would rent the yacht to them fairly reasonably since it is not leaving the dock.

However, it sounds like Dustin is planning on shooting a porno flick!

depending on how slim your budget is and your needs/requirements, we may be able to help... send me a PM or email thru this site.

photo shoot costs if the boat doens't leave teh dock are usually much lower than regular charter rates

Given that Florida is the land of the scam, caution and due diligence is in order. That said, I've seen many production companys here in Portland due to our large independent film community and most have been both legit and reasonably well financed. I made a fair chunk just having a 16' RIB on standby for 12-14 hours. Never even left the dock.

At the same time, using your website as "proof" of your legitimacy is problematic...particularly when the site is "under construction" with no direct contact info provided. Suspicious.

Steven Spielberg & James Cameron dont have a website. There some of the biggest directors in the world.

There is millions of companys that dont have a website.
I have a office in Coral Springs Florida If you would like to stop in.

I dont understand am not asking for money or saying you have won the euro lottery and I need your bank account and SSN.

I am walking on a boat in the daylight in fort lauderdale Florida and I dont want it to move from the doc.

Inevitably people will be sceptical. Don't take it personally.

I agree and I don't understand the skeptics. Someone wants to pay you to use their vessel dockside for a shoot. Either you are interested, or not. Why does someone who is willing to pay for your services subject to your ridiculous scrutinizing? I hope that you people never need to hire your yacht out because you just might never find a party willing to pay you and undergo your series of interrogations and accusations.

Ditto. Centwo2, there are a lot of boats down your way this time of years. The easiest, most normal way to find the boat you want is to contact an agent. A second way (bi-passing the agent) would be to hit the docks and speak with the dockmasters. Don't forget to tip whoever helps you on the dock.:)

Or, Dustin, contact a yacht broker. Any of them are likely to have an owner who would love to offset their dockage/insurance/mortgage by even just a little bit.

OK so some guy stumbled onto the forum while looking for a yacht to use for a shoot, so the usual suspects on here (and the reason I stay away) should either:

    A-Roast Him! He is a Scammer!

B-Actually provide him with the logical answer, and direct him to pick up a yachting magazine, and call some of the Brokers in your area.

You "guys" (and you know who you are) need to understand the fact that most people in the world have no idea how our silly little world works.

What size yacht are you looking for? And, how much time aboard do you need?

    Dustin,

Let's see if we can help you out. This yacht you need, do you know approximately the length required? Are you shooting inside or outside? If outside, do you want deck space on top, sunpad on bow or aft deck/cockpit area?
If inside, need the salon, any staterooms or galley? My guess is that you don't need access to the engine room.
If you can be more specific in your needs, it will help us narrow down your search. There are lots of yachts sitting in the Ft Lauderdale area now, since the boat show just ended. And more up in Palm Beach.
My daughter is in school for film, so I know what it's like trying to shoot on location (had to coax our way onto the field at Roger Dean Stadium for a segment, nice folks over there gave us time).
Don't be discouraged by the nay-sayers. They are a good bunch of folks, just a bit leary. I should know, I socialize with most of them. lol
    Good luck.

PS Send a PM to Loren, he may be able to help or know of someone.

CaptTom - Those are magic words. This thread was getting painful to read. The poor guy was just looking for some help, not to be vilified.

I wonder how many newbies are turned off from posting when they read responses like these. I know I think twice before I post and then often don't because the responses can be brutal. I'm no shrinking violet but don't see any reason to needlessly attract scorn. It gives the impression that if you are not already an seasoned yachtsman (or woman) you shouldn't bother posting.

It's good to know not everyone is a skeptic. Thanks for being one of the good guys. It's members like you that keep me coming back to YachtForums.

I sent him a PM and have talked with him on the phone. Told him to look up my boat on the internet and see if it would work for him. Have not heard back from him??
