Here's another one for Carl. Not fast, but impressive none the less: Giant RC Helo- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDiyHDUbfUc&feature=player_embedded#!
Fish, I received an email with a link from you this morning that was also sent to several other recipients in your Personal Contacts list. The link contained a known threat and I was alerted by AVG. Has your mail program been compromised? Carl
Hi, Carl. This is getting to be very common nowadays. It is advisable for YF members to regularly update and run their anti-virus programs at least once-a-week. A little diligence goes a long way in making our online experience safer. Thanks, Arnie
Hi, I get spammed a lot by e mails that offer me a number of things but mostly Viagra and Toys. I have talked to my Mail Service Provider who says he can't do anything to stop it, I have also spent a few hours looking at the headers trying to find a common thread. The most effective way to cut it down has been to add a filter to the server blocking all mail from my own personal e mail addy. It means if I actually want to send myself an e mail I have to either send it from another e mail addy or send it to one that is not covered by the filter. I have also recently had to let one of my clients know that he is sending e mails to me and everyone in his address book down to names starting with F offering a number of items and services. It was interesting reading some of the addressees names.
gmail. Beautiful spam filtering tools. I forward all of my various accounts to gmail, allow them to filter, pull / sort from there to each account respectively. I used to get 400 to 500 per day on one account alone. Since gmail took over, I get a very small handful that make their way through. Maybe 5 or 8 in a day. Not perfect, but a whole lot less than 500. I've also made it a hard and fast rule that if anything online requires an email address, I use a specific email address for that, which I know is already clobbered with spam. Personal contacts and business I give specifically to individuals. All others get the spam address. Can't say enough about gmail though. Oh.... and I'm loving Google Voice!
Yeah, those Spam Filters are great ... not perfect, but very helpful in screening most spam email. I've noticed recently that I've been getting emails from friends with "No Subject", and when you open the email, there's just a link, which is suspicious. So I make sure not to click on the link, and instead report it as spam. There's no telling what personal info they can get from your computer.
Hi, I should have added the fact that a lot of the spam I receive is from my own personal business address, this is the really annoying part about it. I guess I forgot to transfer my train of thought to the keyboard when typing the first bit.
My Fail. At work our IT guy has every filter built into our system (even my mother from Antigua is SPAM) but when I sent the link to my own home PC something went tits-up when I passed it on. If you have had a SPAM from that link( I've had none ????) I am very sorry. I have sent Carl a very grovelling PM to say sorry to you all. A very humble Dave
