To be precise, design Nuvolari & Lenard, naval architecture by Ron Holland. Knowing some crew there I figured out who was the designer here.

    New to Large Sail Yachts!

I love old sailing ships, clippers and scooners mostly. Being from Maine and now living near the coast it is a draw that is itching at me. But the new Yachts seem to not have the same draw. That high hull and big stern windows.

But all these pictures have helped. Also, I think a few trips up the coast would do me good. :)

Now that we are talking about real boats, look to the left at my avatar, a CSY 33 cutter rigged sloop.

1979 vintage and in great shape.

(Lars, ya may notice the Norwegian flag hanging from the spreader..;) )

Not sure how to "super-size" the picture, but perhaps Carl can work his magic keyboard and do it...?

Speaking of LARGE, whatever happened to the sloop that dragged anchor and ran aground in the Med a year or two ago?
She was the worlds largest sailing yacht..Not sure if she got seriously damaged...
Or if the captain for fired for not setting an anchor watch.?

Can't remember the yacht's name, but she had headlines for a while, first when she was launched, then when she grounded.

on another forum they described MALTESE FALCON as looking like a Chinese Junk. Ho hum thats one spectacular yacht and pioneering rig. Congrats to Turkey for building that beauty.

FRIDAY STAR - an interesting charter yacht because she is based on the schooner VENDREDI 13 which achieved second place in the 1972 OSTAR. At that time the mutihulls began to show their promise. A 42.4m built in 1994 at CMN Cherbourg. Her latest paintjob is beautiful.

GHOST a 122ft sloop built by Vitters and designed by ex-Wally designer Luca Brenta. MIRABELLA V in comparison is 248ft.

    Model Of Eos

Here is a nice photo of a model of the s/y Eos built by Lurssen. The pic is a bit distorted because of the display case I believe. Nice model though, very lifelike.

I had the chance to float by ANAKENA in Copenhagen Harbor on August 8. Also to walk on the dock where she was lying near the Chritian Radich and Sorlandet. She is every bit as magnificent as they day she was launched. Startlingly sharp and lovely. I cam away with spreader envy . . . and more.

shot this one 24-07-2007, near Porquerolles France, During Tall ships race Toulon 2007. Think this was not a participant but still a nice vessel.
Would be gratefull if anyone can identify her.

The Mirabella V in a rare moment at the La Ciotat refit yard in Europe has had her mast removed. Her mast is the tallest mast on a sailing vessel- in the world. The closest that comes to her in terms of mast length is the recently launched Perini Navi Salute-at about 75M-. The Mirabella V had her near 90M mast de-stepped at the yard and she apparently is there for work.

My big brother Phil worked on Fleurtje for two years, loved the boat hated all the varnish, I think she's up for sale at the moment. My Big Boat dreams are from Spirit Yachts UK. Very classic with a modern twist. Their 70' was the one in Venice in the last James Bond, the first sail boat on the Grande Canale in 40 years.
