I am pretty sure the Ferretti 45 Bertram hull is a modified pre Ferretti 43 Bertram hull which was designed by Dave Napier and did not have prop pockets.
No knowledge on pockets or not but heard some years ago all of the Ferretti Bertram's had cored hulls. Although only about a dozen of the 46' (improved 46.6) Miami built models were built so not often found on the market, I saw one with Cat's on boat trader recently.
I have seen some listings of this hull and there are no pockets. As others have stated the 45 bert is a stretched napier designed 43. The mag reviews of the feretti Berts mentioned the hulls being solid glass below the waterline and core above.
Several years back one of the boating magazines had a fairly detailed article on a guy who "stole," (I think she was 60 ft.) a Feretti Bert with nearly the entire below the water-line hull wet due to poor installation of underwater hull fittings, and as a result she was also too heavy. The article went on, including with some photos, info on the large repair stating it only made financial sense as he was the owner of the boat yard. Maybe only some of the Feretti models were cored, I've no idea, but when shopping only looked at Miami built boats.
Great Yachting article - Bertram 72 https://books.google.com/books?id=Y...AI#v=onepage&q=bertram 72 core repair&f=false
Thanks for posting that interesting old Bertram article. Wish I had the one I refered to in my previous post.
The Ferretti-Bertram were not cored in the hull bottom, although some of them did have coring which went that bit below the water line as the sandwich (PVC-core) in the sides tended to keep going down to the chine, below the water line. Interestingly some nineties build Bertram were cored below the water-line. I think the Bertram 72 was officially sold/marketed as fully cored, and I also saw a survey for an ealy-nineties 50 which was cored in some parts of the bottom.
Seems to be various dates & opinions out there. All I know for FACT is my 95 was confirmed solid as I was in the yard when they installed a new transducer although I did expect the glass to be thicker.
