I have a 1995 Carver 355 with Cummins 6BTA and trying to figure out how to switch to auxillary tanks. Which fuel valves do we open and which ones do we close? The fuel is going on a year old and we need to use it.
I have the same boat , if your talking about the valves on the port side wall in engine room next to generator. You choose the tank you want the engine to draw from and then you choose it's return tank. It should be labeled if not I'll take pic over weekend.
Thanks! Our panel has 4 valves with supply and return lines labeled for port, stbd and aux. When switching to aux, does this feed to tanks or directly to the engines? I'm going to check the fuel out prior to switching as it has been over a year since we had the fuel polished.
The return sends it back to the one it came from for the engine your feeding or the aux tank in stern . I never use mine it is always empty but I might start because my bow plows allittle even without trim tabs down .
Thanks for the info. I will try it while still at the dock! We've never used the aux tank and the fuel has been sitting in tank. Traveled up to Norfolk VA and back to the Keys last year and never had to use the aux, would just fill up the mains each day. Our bow plows with the trim tabs up and aux tank full fuel! I really don't notice a lot of change when using tabs. I always thought the trim tabs may be a little undersized.
If your already plowing then bigger trim tabs would make a difference because when there up they do nothing when there down they make the bow go down which your boat like mine does already I just use them to level boat
Happen to still have this carver I have same boat but with 454s I'm about to swap a pair of 6bta engines I found into it was wondering if you knew what trans and shaft size and also the prop size thanks
