Who was operating the boat? Paid captain or owner? Either way obviously not paying attention.

I see that sign on the square float, but have no idea what a wide view of the area looks like, and where that is in relation to where the boat struck.

You can see the FRP on that float.
Beautiful peel back hole in the bow stem.
Nobody could stuff a pillow into that hole??
Stuff for brains (No anachronisms allowed).

Somebody got injured at the time of collision.
Naturally; my inquiring mind would inquire on that injury.
    Bobbitt II??

That’s what I’m wondering. Only two people aboard. I mean it’s not totally unheard of for a captain to take a single owner out for the day, but being a holiday weekend, it did make me wonder if it was two buddies or even a couple, operating around their hired captain. If so, that’s obviously going to be a problem with insurance.

Probably some steel dredging floats associated those foolish projects (and very expensive projects) of replenishing the beaches along the stretch of ocean.

The ocean RULES!,... and our rising oceans will in short order reclaim those sands.. Meanwhile the general population is funding millions of dollars for a short section of new beach for a few wealthy ocean front owners (who don't want the general public on 'their land'),....that is destined to wash away.

And they expect the insurance companies to pony up when the get washed out by bad weather.

I wonder if that 15 x 15 steel float was anything like a partially sunk container,....those ones that often fall off some of the container ships??. They are not that easy to spot, particularly with certain sun angles.

Just heard another Sécurité call. It is still bobbing around out there.
Transom is probably bouncing on the bottom and what buoyancy is left, pointing the hulk straight up.
Thinking about a salvage run my self if it is abandoned.

Any more pictures?? Pics of more bottom damage?
Anxious to see if a pillow in the bow/stem could have really saved this puppy.

I saw that one in the news article.
I still think a pillow or mattress from the outside could of saved that boat.

Was looking for running gear damage,, ripped out strut or something like that to really impede saving this boat.

There were only 2 people on board, if they were our ages, there's no way they're going into the water with a mattress or pillows.

So, your saying to much boat for old farts to try to save? Or even operate safely..

Interesting no comments on those operators.
