I need to replace the control cables (shift and throttle) for the outboard on my tender. Who makes the best cables these days? I’ve seen some good reviews on Teleflex Extreme. I think these are the same as Sea Star Extreme? It’s just a little 14’ Novurania with a 60 hp Yamaha. But getting into the console to pull and replace the cables on that end is going to be tight and likely a PITA. So I only want to do this once I’m hoping. Thanks in advance for input.
SeaStar, BayStar, TeleFlex and more are all the same now. Dumbetic owns them all and combining the products towards the most profitable design. As proven before by Dumbetic, This does not mean the best design for the end user. My observations in small boat control cables; Big radius in the turns. Keep big feet off of the cables. Keep folk from pulling on them. Keep them clean and try to place a drop of oil in the sleeve, at the control head, once a year. I remember a short shaft on a RIB. Owner swore no abuse on the cables but they were stiff every year. I found when he tilted the motor all up, the cables took a hell of a bend against the deck. What an ammonia broadcasting contest that turned into after that....
