Anyone own any Exotic cars?

He seems to have found his calling.

The Turkey Run has been evading my bucket list since Steve Jobs introduced a phone. Finally found myself free on Friday and headed up the coast with an old friend; one of the founders of United Yacht Sales. It was overcast with a drizzle but it didn't dampen our spirits. For anyone going in the future, we found parking on the opposite side of International Speedway Drive in one of the shopping centers. It's an easy walk across the flyover. This is Bill carrying a knee pad he just purchased to change a sink disposal when he gets home.

We saw a good number of Rat Rods. The creativity is what makes these rides most interesting. Check out the repurposed crank on this rod...

It also had a wash bucket air filter cover and some old license plates formed into a fan shroud. I'm a fan!

No matter what genre of cars appeal to you, the Turkey Run is a spectacle for the vocationally inclined. I can't speak to yesteryear's events, but this year was more muscle than exotic. I've always liked deuce coupes. Came across a few with modern underpinnings...

This drop-top beauty caught my eye but like other curvy things, sometimes better to behold then maintain...

I can't recall if this was the interior of the car above, or another car? I don't know how many cars were in attendance, but the number of personal mobility scooters is a good indication of the scale of the event and possibly a few folks that should practice social distancing from their refrigerator.

Only took a few pics. Maybe my interest is waning or I'm getting old, but I mostly looked forward to riding in Bill's Big Lexus Sedan on the way home!

That's the most wild 959 I have ever seen, interesting that it started life out as a benchmark project for Nissan!

One of our charter guests had a 959 on order. He got the phone call he had car #7 on the build-list from Porsche. I remember the dance he did around the bar on hearing the news. I think he kissed my forehead at one point.

Never understood the “Rat Rod” charm, or whatever it is..

I own two of them and having something completely different is what's fun for me. It's also funny when you pull into a gas station or a cars n coffee meet and you get more eyes on your rusted pile of bolts than the guy with the polished Ferrari next to you. I can appreciate and respect the super cars and the Porsche's and such but they just don't get me as fired up as a rusted hulk with a nasty motor in it.

The first one I have is titled as a 28 Chevy but the cab is from an early 30's Dodge. The chassis is fully custom, the motor is a Chevy 350 paired to a 3 speed transmission paired to a Dana 60 rear end and it has King shocks all around. The exhaust does an 8-1 then splits and runs down both sides of the cab. Super fun truck to drive.


This one is a 29 Ford Tudor that was resurrected in Washington State by Brian Minter from Minter Fab. He found the cab on a hill with a tree growing through the middle of it. This one has a unique 534 cubic inch Ford gas motor that came out of a late 60's dump truck and has full air suspension all around. With the bags fully inflated you're sitting about 3" above the ground. There was a great write up on it that you can find by googling "Frankensedan" that documented the entire build process. Best part with this one is if someone gets too close for comfort you can flip a switch and send them a friendly flaming hello.
