Cat 3412E engines?

    None. Best engine in that HP range. I ran a pair of them (2003 vintage ) for about 8 years, started in 2008 at 1800 hours and ended at 5400 in 2016. Just routing maintenance except one starter, one ECU (only $3k), a fuel cooler and two gear coolers. That’s it.

    Nothing comes to my mind.

    Other than that SheetWood raw water pump. But that is not a Cat issue.

    I wish Cat made more engines like the 3406 and 3412s.

    We get two of three years out of the impellers on the 3412Es, over 1000 hours. I don’t think we replaced the pumps in all these years. Same with the C32s.

    Other than maintenance on a 1400hp motor not being cheap (regardless of brand), nothing but great things to say.
