Rudder post seal

that is tides marine the red piece you are looking at is to help with the install of the new seal that model is called STRONG SEAL you can get the replacement seals from tides marine in Fla

i wouldn't do it once you remove the rudder arm from the shaft to remove the seal you have to remove a spiral clip that holds the seal in then the seal water will be coming in

I think that red seal guide is facing the wrong way.
Also, the post looks like corrosion or barnacle fouling??

Did somebody push the rudder up?

That red thingie may be a way to keep junk off of the seam from the inside.
It is a pressed in seal like the ole Strong seal system. I'm not a big fan.

I'm assisting on the same seeping seals in a 2000 Post 42.
3+ years later, can you fill us (me) in on your repair?
Drop the rudders?
Or just clean the seals in place?
