that is tides marine the red piece you are looking at is to help with the install of the new seal that model is called STRONG SEAL you can get the replacement seals from tides marine in Fla
i wouldn't do it once you remove the rudder arm from the shaft to remove the seal you have to remove a spiral clip that holds the seal in then the seal water will be coming in
I think that red seal guide is facing the wrong way. Also, the post looks like corrosion or barnacle fouling?? Did somebody push the rudder up?
You know Capt, I thought of that. I had the boat backed in for the 2000 hour MAN overhaul at a facility with skinny water as you got closer to the bulkhead. I actually tied up about 15-20' off the bulkhead. Another factor - both shaft are leaking. That red, whatever it is, was down on the seal, I pulled it up.
That red thingie may be a way to keep junk off of the seam from the inside. It is a pressed in seal like the ole Strong seal system. I'm not a big fan. Yep, Lets do this job on the hill. Please keep us updated.
Hello Beau I'm assisting on the same seeping seals in a 2000 Post 42. 3+ years later, can you fill us (me) in on your repair? Drop the rudders? Or just clean the seals in place?
No stuff, I had to try. Did you read the line? 3+ years later, can you fill us (me) in on your repair? And;
Yes, I read that line. There can be a difference between when Beau last posted and when he last logged in to YF. You said, "Hello Beau," as if you thought he was logging in on a regular basis. I was pointing out the Beau hadn't logged in to YF for almost 3 years, so he's not likely to get your message. Maybe, he'll get your message if you type it in bold or all caps.
leeky I have been around for a few days now. Up-set the boss here a few times already these few days in these last 20 years.. I do have an understanding of how a few things work around here. When did I upset you? Some wrong doing in a previous post of life? So why is it your in may case,, again?? Can you contribute to my question?
