    Wow, 11’ draft..
I would be the wrong guy, have hit the bottom several times with a 5’ 3” draft in The Bahamas.
    (Sailboat, no damage, all good)

I do not expect a lot of replies.
Except for the few cruise ship ports, I don't think there are many destinations that anybody wants to push a 11' draft vessel.
I'm nervous pushing boats half that draft thru the islands.

Are port pilots still required (U S & Bahamas) for deep draft tubs?

If you post up a bit more about the job, we can post it on our whatsapp group?

Make it easy so I can cut and paste, you can always PM if you don't want the info on web.

BTW- Plenty of big yachts doing that draft in the Exumas, not easy, and have to anchor far out, but doable.

Thanks for the help! I would prefer to keep it pretty anonymous. He needs a slip in So. Fl (PB - Miami) for a week in Feb. and then the month of March in Bahamas

Captain needed for month of March for Bahamas. Vessel: 1970 Smedvik 75', draft of 11'. Contact: email address removed

Is that ok for you to post?

Btw, am in NY (brr) and heading back to Fl in a bit, so I might be incommunicado.

Kind of takes away from going to the islands in a boat.
Not many places to hide when the weather turns to mush.

Sorry, I was working off my phone and thought I had sent my previous 2 posts to PM.

So any captains for a 75' Smedvik in the Bahamas for March? Yes, the draft of 11' is somewhat limiting, but hey, there are lots of boats with that draft enjoying our island neighbors.

I'm not interested in the job, 11' isn't somewhat limiting, but it's completely limiting when it comes to the Bahamas. The only places you can get into with that draft would be anchor near Guana in the Abacos, Freeport, and Nassau. That's 3 places out of over 700 islands.

    Sounds very annoying.
Here's a thought for Judy and her client (considering also the type of boat): why not bring her across the Pond and enjoy some Med cruising instead?
Out of 1200+ islands of the Croatian archipelago alone, 3 is just about the number of places where they could NOT anchor.
And that's just the start, with countless other stunning spots all around the rest of the Med...

I was waiting to post when the owner selected one of the very qualified captains who responded. Thanks for posting - got some great resumes from qualified captains with deep draft experience in the Bahamas. Really appreciate your help!
