    My boat has an 18 yr old navionics package that includes Raymarine E120 chartplotter down, E80 repeater at flybridge, Raymarine radar, all connected with sea talk. All instruments need replacing and I’m looking for recommendations for replacement. If I go with another brand like Simrad, will I have to replace sea talk and all transducers, antennae? Are new systems compatible with these?

    I'm still pushing E120s, Pathfinder radar pedestal with DSM.
    Like your install.
    I also have a Simrad AP48, IS20s and NAIS300.
    In my shop is a NSS12 waiting to install.
    My radar pedestal is a 6', 10KW unit that works well.
    Shopping for a B A Simrad radar array but not cheap.

    Raymarine SeaTalk 2 is N2K based but not really compatible with SimNet.
    They interconnect, some common nav data from SimNet does get thru to the E120, Some ST2 data does make thru to the SimNet.
    My AIS signal has to talk NMEA183 to the E120s. The E120 will not detect it thru N2K/ST2.

    I also have a PC on the dash with 16" screens that run RNS and runs like another RayMArine display.

    It is a spaghetti mess but I understand its shortcomings.
    N2k is a nice com line, still all mfg's don't talk the same slang over it.

    One day I will complete my all Simrad conversion (Lotto win???).

    I bring all that up to explain I know a lil about your question;
    The reliable answer is; NO..
    Just your transducer may be re-usable.

    To ad insult to injury, The later RayMarine junk won't talk to your E120 system.
    Heck; Much of the later RayMarine stuff still will not work with other later RayMarine junk.

    I do encourage the Simrad stuff.
    I still maintain Stowe & RobNet stuff on other boats.

    I know there are FuruNO luvers out there.
    I can't bash the stuff but I know; FuruNO has their own slang on N2K and except for the transducer (still maybe) nothing will be compatible also.

    They all have their own eithernet setup also. Zero compatible.

    Last question;
    Why do you think your stuff needs replacing?

    IF you're in the mood for an overhaul, be prepared to replace everything. Over 18 years the industry has made some significant advances, and most of what you have quickly became obsolete when Flir took over Raymarine. Obsolete is probably a bit strong, because items will still communicate through SeaTalk and 2000. The different vintages will leave much of the new gear unable to give you the benefits of the new technology. 3D Sonar, for instance, needs modern operating systems as well as modern transducers and cabling. HD or Doppler radar, same.

    Best bet is to pencil it all out with a diagram, lists and costs. You can also consider sticking with what you have and identify the areas of improvement that serve your needs or desires...

    Screens need replacing and data not showing up on repeater, radar not working. I haven’t had the radar looked at (mostly because it’s a PITA to remove and I hardly use it.Mostly just short daytime cruises in local waters.) I could probably have the CP’s sent off and refurbished, which is what I’m leaning toward as it seems it’s an all or nothing game. Thanks

    Thanks for the replies. I’ve learned that I don’t know anything about these systems, and as nothing seems compatible with anything else, I should probably look into refurbishing what I have and sticking with it. Truthfully, my motivation had more to do with keeping the boat “fresh” than real functionality. These days I rarely venture out from my known grounds so replacing everything is probably not the smartest move. Thanks again!

    At this point I'm heavily leaning to you determining what systems that you want to have and rely upon aboard. Delete the rest of it. Start new, fresh, modern, and reliable. Build onto it as needed.

    We can fix what you have.
    I have Pathfinder spares. DSMs, AP parts, Miles of different cables, hubs, E80 & 120 spares & whole E120s also.

    CPs? The displays (MFDs)?

    Raymarine Corp (Flir or who ever owns them this week) does not work on them any more.
    Not much new parts left. Lots of lil shops still have some spares and do repairs.
    E-bay is our friend at times.

    PM me if I can be of any supplies help.
