My electronic controls were working fine w/o issue, then I lost both throttles and transmissions...thank God it was at the dock when it happened. Any ideas for trouble shooting? I've checked the fuse on the CSIM, checked the power to the ERIM both are OK. The engines start and the displays activate. Unable to activate either station.
The boat is a 1992 Sea Ray Sundancer with twin 1994 6V92 Detroit's (recently rebuilt with 30 hours on each) the electronics are "Detroit Diesel Marine Power" the CSIM (part# 23506936) and the ERIM are the original set up for the above mentioned engines.
What he just can not quite articulate; DDEC 2.5. Must be the fumes from NAS Pax. Better DDEC installs use their own battery power installs. Sadly, SeaRay did not install them this way and used switches and breakers, some in strange locations. First, if your batteries are low, even though the engines turn over and start, the voltage level may have dropped low enough for parts of the DDEC controllers to not boot correctly. They will idle in stupid mode and that is it. Then, extra carnage of previous owners trying to improve things like adding dedicated batteries (extra charger off?) and relocating (removing) breakers and fuses. With this; Your looking for some extra switches, breakers or fuses. There are a few DDEC shops around you. Sturdy Corp is one. At the moment, I can't articulate the other shops name, it will come to me when I wake up later this morning.
Thanks for the reply...I'll contact Sturdy Corp and see what if anything they recommend. It's frustrating trying to find a technician that's familiar with the Detroit electronics...they look at you as if you have a third eye in the middle of the forehead. I've been trying to contact the original tech since the middle of December to no avail.
That does not mean much to me. Been down that road trusting new batteries a few times,, just to find bad batteries and/or charger.
