    A lot of boat for the money! Is this one of the builds that would be filed into the flexible flyer folder?

    Lots of boat for the money. I haven't knocked it off the list, but it really doesn't fit our lifestyle any more.

    Ocean's had a rep for being flexible, but I'm not sure which years or specific lengths. Some of our seasoned owners and captains will know. I love sportfish boats but gravitate toward cockpits that are covered.

    My neighbor had one and said the flexing made the ride unpleasant. He sold it and moved onto to other brands. Think he’s on his 17th boat now…

    Used to captain a 58 and 53 from the 1990’s builds. I can recall carrying around a Phillips head screw driver to retighten various things after any sort of choppy seas. Oh, and having to slow down for other boat wakes on the Chesapeake bay... But that 53 with 820 mans would roll out and cover some ground on a calm day!

    Do some research, the flexible trash was put out there by a viking salesman back in the day. There is only on boat on record to have had issues and the company bought it back. I have a 48SS and if not for the MAN motors would trade in a moment as that boat feels more like a 60. Not bashing MAN motors, I just don't want them, I am a Cat guy.

    I wouldn't be afraid of it. Problem is we don't fish so a sport fisher doesn't really work for us.

    The Flex gossip came out in the 80s and early 90s. The boats manufactured in the mid 90s on are all competent boats. A tier down from the vikings or hatterases that are also available, Oceans would be best compared to Posts, Egg Harbors etc. You do get a lot of boat for the money. What you sacrifice is in the quality of the components, or redundancy in componentry. Oceans (and Posts) have a very shallow deadrise aft giving much better fuel economy when compared to a viking/hatteras/bertram of the same era.
