I have a 1991 Viking 63 motor yacht that has a huge aluminum swim/dingy platform that raises and lowers via an electric motor and two cables. One of the cables has broken and I have no information on the unit what so ever or even begin where to find parts. Has anyone dealt with one of these and could maybe point me in the right direction? Thanks any help would be appreciated!
Not familiar with cable platforms but it’s probably just your basic stainless steel cable which should be available everywhere. Obviously, replace both.
Thanks for that! The yard its in obviously just doesn't want to do the job. And as for Viking I have called many times for tech support. When answered im sent over to a voice mail.....Call never returned.
T N T; I believe is a lift manufacture that makes lifts like yours . There’s a nameplate somewhere on that lift you just have to look all around for an ID tag it’s somewhere on there. don’t hold your breath with Viking , they’re not gonna call you back. check’s cleared, warranty is over and Boat is too old to be bothered with.
Viking isn’t going to have any info as it was probably installed after the boat was sold. Also, these vintage Viking MY were not built by Viking but by Lazzara in Tampa for Viking. When Lazzara started building boats under their own name in the mid/late 90s they used TNT. You might give TNT a call although they changed hands a few years ago and may not have info on the old stuff.
Oops, yes that’s right. Not the SJ plant. anyway two new manual trailer cable wenches would work ! Just have to bolt them down well….
Great idea for a temporary fix! kudos and I appreciate the help! She is heading down the Calumet/ Chicago shipping and sanitary canal on the 29th to Nashville for 12 months then on to South Texas. MV" Event Horizon". Rather fitting name for something about to go into a black hole with your Cash and your Marriage! Cheers!
Clean slate your a genius! Found a lift almost the exact same on TNT website. Last boat at bottom right in their gallery. i will be on with them tomorrow Thanks so much.
Dear YF admin. ( Carl)Please have the above post bronzed for me. Anthony glad we all could help. Wish I was a genius ! but I sure am a legend in my own mind! Good luck.
Really? I think I've read (here, and elsewhere I think) that Viking support if really good even for their old boats. -Chris
Be careful down the Calumet/ Chicago shipping and sanitary canal. Dumb A** will take gun shouts at you as you go under the bridges. I am NOT JOKING. safe travels Rich
