"issues relating to the weight of the yacht. " Does anyone have any idea of what that actually means.
Isn't that why they invented Ballast tanks ?

This is the statement issued on their website:

    https://www.revocean.org/status/

There is also an interview where they talk about weight problems and not challenges

From what I have been told is she has to much top weight which has induced significant stability issues. She will be towed from Vard Brattvåg to the now closed Vard Aukra yard where she will remain until they decide what todo with her. The current think it cutting her in half and adding a 10m hull extension.

Perhaps that's what happens when you're simply giving your money away?

Latest news concerning anything to do with this vessel... here is the world's deepest diving three-person submersible that will be housed onboard REV. The vessel will be named "Aurelia" and will begin trials soon and subsequently delivered to the VARD yard. The submersible is expected to be able to dive to a maximum service depth of 2,300 meters or around 7,600-feet.

REV Ocean’s CEO Nina Jensen said, “Aurelia is absolutely incredible and perfectly designed for REV Ocean’s scientific goals and ambitions. With both Aurelia and Aurora now in service we have the best tag team in the world for conducting cutting edge ocean science, education, and communications.”

Apparently REV is now finished, there is an argument between the owner and the shipyard on who will pay for the cost overruns due to the instability issues. The owner has also now moved from Norway to Switzerland, his REV Ocean foundation is in a bit of a mass, there planned HQ in Oslo hasn't been given building consent, so it's not clear what's happening.

How does a person become a billionaire and not have these kinds of things dealt with in advance?

It seems that the arbitration court has agreed that REV is too heavy, and the shipyard is responsible for that. According to the contract specifications, the Rev Ocean is too deep in the water.
Because of that, a large part of the steel superstructures should be replaced by aluminum...I smell a request for a huuuuge discount is coming.

So is she too deep or too unstable? Or both? Does she need to be lightened, lengthened, or receive outrigger pontoons?

Now she will be cut in 2 and a 12 meter section will be added, also the top steel deck will be removed and replaced with aluminum.
The 12 meter extension should add buoyancy and the aluminum should make her less top-heavy..

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t do an aluminum superstructure from the beginning to be honest.

194m now, quite impressive. Still confused where this will fall and how much of a yacht like interior she will have.
