We have a 1999 Horizon Elegance motor yacht and the mid sump pump stopped working and the boat drawings show a fuse between the switch and the electrical board, but we have searched the entire boat and cannot find a fuse box…..the drawings show all the switches at the helm lead to fuses. .Anyone own a Horizon who knows where the fuse box is for the rocker switches at the helm. 9 years and this is the first time we have encountered this. Thanking in advance.

Just to be clear are you talking about a shower sump pump or a bilge pump?

shower sumps are usually powered by a circuit breaker with power going straight to the float switch

bilge pumps will typically have a circuit breaker to power the float switch and an over ride manual switch usually also protected by its own breaker

I just can’t imagine and decent builder using fuses and fuse boxes.

Thank you but the switch itself on electrical drawings show a fuse, that is why I am hoping another Horizon boat owner can advise.

In the "microscopic" print on a couple pages of the electric diagrams in my vessel's "book" I found the drawing date was years before the model was ever built and was in fact for the discontinued model she replaced so not entirely accurate.

We have a 2001, so quite a bit older than yours, but the only DC fuses I've ever found are behind the DC breaker panel (upstairs in the Sky Lounge in our model). That panel swings out and the fuses are mounted to the bulkhead behind. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for your reply. We don’t have the sky lounge….but will recheck again at DC Panel….all we seem to have behind there are the buses…but who knows…maybe there is a hidden door….

Dont mean to but in, I am not Horizon heavy.
    But I have witnessed a few things;
Float switches usally fail before the pumps do.
Also for a while, Rule float switches came with a fuse attached on one of the leads.
Have you checked these out yet.

Thank you. But as mentioned before…there is a fuse as there is NO power getting to the rocker switch.

Sorry, just noticed that you have a 1999; I thought I had read it as 2009 previously. Our years are pretty close, so I would think that the DC power systems are similar. I'll be at our boat this week and can take a picture of our fuses if you like.

That would be very much appreciated. Our panels are screwed down and we have checked everywhere and can’t find anything remotely like a fuse. We have followed all wires and just can’t find the box. If you could send a picture that may help us identify it. There was only one other boat made like ours and it sank 6 years ago in a hurricane….so we are at a loss. Thank you.

Hi B&K, here are a couple of pictures of my 2001 Horizon's DC setup. Both are upstairs in the Skylounge, which is obviously different from yours. The first is the main 24VDC rotary switch (Off, Service 1, Service 2, Both) and all the DC breakers. The second is what's behind that swing-out panel, including the fuses that I have (most circuits are on breakers). I don't know if this helps at all.

The other possibility might be to contact Horizon in Florida and they should be able to get some answers to you by going back to Taiwan. It's a slow process, but I've found that they're pretty good about answering (eventually).

    Good luck!

Thanks so much for the pictures. Looks like Horizon got smart after ours was built. Your fuses are easily assessable amd for some reason our wiring is very similar to yours but the fuse buses cannot be found. We have sent emails to Horizon and waiting for a reply. Hoping they can assist. Thanks again.

Wait….using your pictures as an example, we took another look and way up against the hull of the boat behind the panel, laying on our couch and looking over the AC plumbing and using a mirror, we finally found them. Would not have found if not for your pictures. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Brenda and Ken.

Awesome, I'm glad you found them. It sounds like it's going to be challenging to reach and replace them, but hopefully Horizon thought to provide some type of access...
