Very nice. I have always liked those boats.
As Maldwin said, it is nice to see an older boat taken care of and restored.
    Good luck with her.

Got as far as Fernandina Beach from Jacksonville and blew an oil line on the new turbo. Back at Huckins now...

I was there in the slings for a few hours on the 14th. I noted a Lace on the inside of the lift pier. Was that you?
Was the turbo damaged? Who is doing the repairs?

    Inquiring mind,
    rc

Yes, that was Dragon Lady. I don’t believe the turbo was damaged. Huckins had replaced the turbo but I’m guessing not the oil line. Waiting for that and several other things to get repaired. Would love to get her home to CT, but need to make sure we do it safely

Sorry to hear about the troubles, but at least you were close enough to return to Huckins. Please keep us abreast of your progress.

Evening - Are you still the owner of Belle Noire? I have some documentation as my wife grew up on it when it was in Anappolis in the 90s

Welcome to YF, Buster d! Your offer of help for TSeptembre is probably for naught as he hasn't logged in to YF since September 27, 2017. But I like your attitude!

I was aboard SHADY LADY about 7 years ago, and she was in nice shape, but she sold shortly thereafter, and I am not sure she has had the same level of care. The problem is that max value is about $150,000 for these boats, which is about the same as repainting the boat and refinishing the wood.

for all those current and past owners, how does the 52 handle 3'-5' chop and swells?

I have been out in a reasonable chop on a 52, and felt she handled it surprisingly well, particularly into the seas. As they are skinny, I think they would move around quite a lot at rest in a beam sea. They are not offshore boats, just coastal cruisers. One long time 44 owner told me they were horrendous in a following sea, but he liked all other aspects of his East coast US experience.

Curious, what modern upgrades have you seen or should you consider on a 52? Obviously electronics.

I have just recently inherited the “family heir loom” Midnight Lace named Halcyon Lace. She is a 44 built in 1986 at the Golden Wave Shipard by Cheoy Lee. My father purchased her in 98/99 from a dry storage site somewhere on one of the Great Lakes. He transited the Saint Lawrence River and down the eastern seaboard to the Chesapeake
