Olderboater

Same here. Last spoke with him in July.

i posted in the "Hurricane Ian" thread and also made an inquiry about O.B. to which i had a Mod reply mentioning of O.B. was not Hurricane Ian related and the O.B. comment was deleted

Best thing I ever did on this thread, use the ignore option on OB.
His charade was tiresome.
I didn't know he was gone or cared.

OB went missing from the other forum as well: After 21,500 posts he disappeared at or about July 2nd. 2022.
Hope he is alive and well, just taking a well deserved vacation

I used to email back and forth with him often, but also haven't heard from him. Not sure what happened.

I miss his input. He could be a little sharp at times and a bit grand at others but he was always a generous and knowledgeable contributor. Whatever the reason I hope he is OK.

You kids could be just as smart cruising the internet for other answers.
OBs imagination was thoughtful and full of details,, some correct.
But he is a great BS artist.
Amazingly, smart people fell for it.
Now, a conversationalist he is. He could talk about anything, never far from the internet to provide details.

As a human being, I hope he, us, all others are well.
As a knowledgeable boater with skinned knuckles, NOT.


Now, there are past contributors to this forum that are missing. Amazing no endearing comments for them.

I don't think he was (is) a BS guy.
We spent a lot of time communicating behind the scenes.
He certainly was caring and had a lot of knowledge, but in a different world than my world.

Well, I did comment recently here about another past contributor, FWIW.

Back to the subject of this thread, I never used the ignore option, neither in this nor any other forum, also because it can make a debate a bit harder to follow. I find it easier and simpler just to skip reading posts which immediately come across as useless, and frankly I would be a liar if I'd say that this never happened with Olderboater.
Which BTW is his username as I recall, not Oldboater.

Yeah, supposedly "olderboater" was coined by his wife, YF member Belle. I think she made a typo, though, and it was really supposed to be "olderboa$ter."

I never questioned whether they were a bot, never needed reams of behind the scenes explaining how great they were.... just straight forward opinions based on knowledge and experience, the kind that couldn't be found with fast typing. And we know the reason each of them dropped out, not just disappeared into the clouds.

He had a lot of knowledge about the boating industry and boating. As for the olderboa$ter comment, you can't begrudge him of enjoying what he had and sharing with his family and friends. Yes, a different world than many of us know, but that's ok.

Debate or argue.
Near every time I would question or call OB out, we would argue.
Then I blocked him and stayed mostly calm after that.
I recall da wife criticized the forum once and I had to Comment.
I never blocked her but from what I'm reasoning, that may have been her last posting June 24.
And you were there also.
