We are purchasing a Marquis and have realized the boat has 2 50A power cords. None of our local marinas have 2 50A hookups at any of their slips and when we travel I don’t recall seeing any either. Do all of you have 2 plug ins or how do you make this work if not? And when traveling? Any help is greatly appreciated
What size Marquis? Typically there is a crossover on the panel that will allow the system to fully energize using one cord. When doing this you will have to be mindful of the load so as not to cause problems. If you want to turn everything on at once, you will likely need both 50a.
I recommend buying a Y splitter connecting two 30amp and connect the for or aft cable. You only need one connected and I agree don't turn on everything at once ie AC if you're connected to a 30amp.
if I understand the wiring correctly all of the air conditioners and the grill is on one of the 50A cords and everything else is on the other 50A cord. If this is indeed the case then how will the splitter help? Marquis owners either run the Air conditioners or everything else?
Not in my boat - I can run the entire house on one 50Amp connection (65 Marquis), and I can select which hook up to use. My suggestion is that you hook up to two 30amp ports from one tower using a Y split cable which you'll connect one of either your forward or aft cables.
im being told n the 55 there is no selector. And even using the splitter you still only have either air conditioners OR everything else. This can’t be correct or I would think nobody would own one of these boats. Anybody Have a 55 or know someone who does that may be able to help clear this up?

As you probably know Cruisers bought Carver/Marquis and some employees went with the sale - you might want to call Brian at Cruisers who was a long time employee at Marquis and ask him the question your seeking answers to... 9208227310 (Direct Line) and if he can't answer perhaps he'll know who can. I can't imagine that Marquis would have built a boat that needed two sources of power on a '55 when the '65 needs one source... I'll keep looking too.
Thanks guys this is exactly the info I was looking for. I’ll reach out to Brian and I did find the hubbell splitter online. I also can’t imagine that they would be the 55 like that. But as it sits one cord plugged in alone only runs air conditioners and the grill. Unplug that one and plug in the second one and everything else works other than the grill and ACs. Surely I’m missing something
Let us know how you make out - we love our Marquis - great layout, amazing build quality and tough as nails. We just had ours ceramic coated and it looks like it was just delivered new! We also found a custom supplier for new furniture and replaced all the cloth blinds with new contemporary blinds - it looks great (again).
I don’t know which area you are in but I don’t recall having seen 125/50 in a very long time. Everything between 45 and 60 these days is at least one 125-250/50. 125-250/50 is pretty much standard at every marina for that size slip as it gives you tw0 50 amps

I have a 60ft slip with 1 125-250/50 plug yes. Problem is that the boat has 2 cords that run different items on the boat and our marina is unwilling to install another plug in even though the panel clearly has room for it. I think that they are assuming with 2 plugs I'd be pulling 100A and that's just not the case. Did find the splitter though and waiting to test it now.
Yes - twin 50 Amp and you'll be able to run the boat on one cord by buying a Y cable, plug into two male ends in two 30Amp which Y's to one 50 Amp and you'll be good. You may find if you run all systems you'll overload it. We used 65 in the great lakes and had many situations where we ran into this all the time. Great boat btw - we loved ours.
