If EV's are so great they should prove their efficiency without any government subsidies or mandates, so the taxpayers won't be paying for another government boondoggle!

Right. 100-years ago, government didn't have to incentivize people to trade in their horse & buggy for a Model-T. Even in its first iteration, the Model-T was a demonstrably better, more practical and ultimately less expensive product and it was self-evident. Maybe EVs will eventually become that. But, if they do, they're likely to become that later than they would have if the competition between ICE vehicles and EV vehicles wasn't artificially interrupted by the heavy thumb of government. Reducing competitive pressure in a free market almost always retards innovation.

I do not know the answer to your question but I would LOVE to be the contractor that is awarded the charger installation job throughout any city paid for by the generous U.S. taxpayers.

Totally agree here. When the technology gets there , in however many years, people will WANT to go electric , but for now we are just not there yet.

Regarding the EV vehicle push: where is the nicklel and cobalt going to come from for the cathodes on batteries? Russia is a major source as I understand it. No worries, we will go Lithium Iron Phosphate like in the marine and airline industry... Well then where are you getting the Lithium? I have read that Bolivia is said to have the richest Lithium reserves, but...they have yet to be able to extract commercial quantities.

I know politicians could care less. They just have to crank up the frenzy levels to get enough folks to vote one way or another to stay in power.

I doubt Tesla or GM or Ford care either.

It does seem odd to me that the automotive industry is so hell bent on advancing the EV movement. Even Porsche is all in. I, for one, cannot spectate the Formula E circuit. Does anyone watch Formula E?

Have you seen yet pictures of their or any Lithium strip mining procedures??
    Hell looks better..
If anybody really understood this E thing, they would vomit.
There is NO environmental positive in battery cars (EV).

Mucho money has already been made, with more to come for those connected to the inner circle.
The rest of us, a little more difficult.

I do when I want a laugh. When they run low on "fuel" (low battery), they come into the pits and change cars.:p They should at least put sound systems on them, so they sound like real cars.

But that would shorten battery life. They could dub in the engine noise …like the baseball crowd noise during those ridiculous covid lockdown broadcasts.

They could use the soundtrack from Speed Racer. In fact they should just run Speed Racer cartoons instead. It would be better for the planet.
