I believe I know what you are talking about. Stuart Boatworks (makes custom CC’s) is doing it and it does look great. Go to their website and see if there is a video of a woman in Stuart, FL that they sub it out to. I realize I am not addressing your question directly but thought you might be interested in the video if you can find it.

The artist your looking for is Monique Richter, "Creations by Monique" in North Palm Beach, FL. Shes certainly one of the best in So. Fl but there are others also .

Izzy and Josh are the other 2 that paint alot of boats. Izzy does most of bayliss work, Josh does spencer. When done correctly it looks almost identical to teak but lasts 5 to 7 years. Both of our boats have it done wouldn't ever use real teak for exterior. Way to much maintenance and billfish destroy transom.

The Royal Dhow of Oman (biggest one built since Cleoptra), had her carbon spars painted to look wooden. All the work was done in Canada back in the 80's and still looks great.

Most of the new Vikings are done this way. No matter how close you get to it, it's very hard to tell it from the real stuff.
