Interesting that in addition to all the sanctions problems they have, the ship's master may not have requested clearance before pulling into port. In a lot of places, that's not a problem. But, in Fiji, it is. They want a couple days heads-up that you intend to sail into their waters and you must be cleared before you do. Hard to believe a professional crew didn't understand that.

It appears that "Amadea" has changed registry flags. The vessel swaps the Cayman Islands flag for the United States flag. Imminent departure from Fiji to the U.S one would think.

It's difficult to envision any scenario that doesn't end with this thing languishing in a US Navy port, probably for years, to eventually be parted out and then scuttled. No one in their right mind is going to buy a yacht confiscated from a Russian oligarch much less one at 106M. Is it worth enough in pieces to pay for the upkeep as the government waits for the legal challenges to be exhausted?

You're not seriously asking as if economic calculations would have anything to see with what is happening, I assume?

Has to be an interesting trip for that new crew going through International Waters. Think there is a Navy Frigate escorting her back to the USA?

The new captain in charge is the ex captain of Amadea (source: Esysman) and according to the same source the crew is exceptionally qualified and handpicked, so I doubt there will be any trouble. I would be surprised if a navy frigate is escorting her, where did you hear that?

I would be surprised if any kind of U.S warship is purposefully escorting.

"Amadea" was 'escorted' by a U.S Coast Guard vessel Cg Joseph Gerczak into Honolulu.

I wonder how long it will sit there. Hopefully doesn't rot for years.

Honolulu is likely just a pit stop.

Hello US billionaires which one of you wants to bid for the seized yacht of a Russian oligarch:)
Believe it or not most cases like these, the new buyer is acting on behalf of the ex owner. This will be an interesting process to watch.

Absent Putin assuming room temperature opening the door to possible re-normalizing of relations between Russia and the West, this is why I don't think this yacht will ever sail again. No one with enough money to buy and maintain a boat this big is dumb enough to buy an Oligarch's confiscated property nor are they stupid enough to act as a straw man buyer for a sanctioned individual. The sanctions laws that the US used to initially confiscate the boat are simply WAY too broad in scope and absolute in power to risk investing that kind of money in a vessel the US could simply repossess...again.

It's going to sit tied up in Honolulu, San Diego or Kitsap probably for years...and the US taxpayer is going to pay for it.

You are absolutely right, I might catch a lot of criticism for this, and I have to add I do not support putin or his war, and absolutely stand with the people of ukraine. USA and EU are being bullies and hypocrites, i’ll explain how; Oracle does a ton of work for US govt and made billions from that work, did you guys see Larry Ellison’s yacht being seized anywhere in Iraq war 2? A war that most of the world didn’t agree with? How will this seizure stand in any court? No one wins here in my opinion not the yacht crew for sure

The people making the USA's decisions during "Iraq war 2" are not the same people making the USA's decisions now as far as seizing Putin's friends assets. No hypocrisy as far as I'm concerned.

You say you don't support Putin, but it seems that you do support his Oligarch friends who are having their assets seized. Those Oligarchs do support Putin. How do you justify your sympathy for the Oligarchs?
