Bond?? That is evidence,, pending arrest & prosecution.
Has the captain been able to leave the country?
You would not get your weapon back during an investigation of its use.

Bahamas wants money, owner wants his boat. Ins posts bond until all resolved. How else do you explain them leaving?

Please don't get me wrong on my post about faults per Colregs.
I truly believe this captain and ship should both be chained down to an old and sinking dock.

Don't have to much to care about the owner either. But, I think, He was not on board.
If I was owner on board and the captain came down @ 20 kts at night, I would have fired him on the spot.

The more I think about this, Yep, Owner should be chained down also. No correct observer on deck. apparently a current mode of operation.

Pics on social media show it under tow into the port of Miami, and another of it docked near a cruise ship.

Towed and docked at a commercial dock near a cruise ship. Not at a marina or service yard? Not at Miami Beach Marina or Miami Gardens Marina but possibly Fisher Island Terminal?
In sight of USCG Miami and US customs and US State???
    Could be still under arrest?

If it had to be hauled, I would think Bradford in Freeport would be able to haul it, IF the Bahamian authorities wanted to keep it in the Bahamas.

Absolutely. I light up like a christmas tree at night, but even that wouldn't have saved me from this rascal.
