I’m looking to rent a yacht from April 19th - April 24th. I wanted to become a helicopter pilot, so I flew a helicopter (it was amazing. If you haven’t tried it, you totally should). Now, I’m looking to purchase a yacht. I’d like to stay in one a few days … decide if I like it. I’m visiting the FountaineBleau in Miami Beach, lots of gorgeous big boats across the street. Instead of going through AirBnB, thought I’d try here first. -Yacht Gal
You might want to describe what type of yacht, size / price, you are interested in...Further, are you interested in moving the vessel or simply keeping it in the slip... AirBnb might have some options, but a boat charterer / broker is more likely to assist you...
And keep in mind that B&B style boat charter even at the dock require a licensed captain on board. USCG have been cracking down on these operations.
You're saying the USCG is requiring a licensed captain for simply being in the slip? I think this is an over-reach... I wonder who complained, the hotel industry lobby is usually at the front...
Whenever a vessel has even a single paying passenger, a licensed captain must be on board whether at the dock, anchored or under way well I guess the captain is allowed to step of the boat to dump garbage the only work around is to do it under a bareboat contract https://wow.uscgaux.info/Uploads_wowII/P-DEPT/PaxForHire_trifold.pdf
These are great question! I’m a newbie. My motive is to gain knowledge and spend some time on a yacht. This is my first thread. 1. What was your first experience with yachts? 2. What do you like most about your yacht? 2. If you could recommend a yacht for someone to stay on overnight for the first time, which one would it be and … is that boat available in Miami?
Hard to answer your questions not knowing your definition of a “yacht”. Yacht means something different to different people. To some a 40’ boat is a yacht… to others a 90 footer is a boat. Many folks start with smaller boats and go up in size. Others jump straight into bigger crewed boats ownership. So again, not sure what you are referring to when you use the word yacht your last question is the easiest. Get in touch with a charter broker to book a boat for a couple of days/nights so you can sample it out. Pick something in the size range you re considering.
Agreed. Best way to gain an experience is to actually be aboard a moving vessel, spending a night at anchor (or more).
