Hi Jim, very surprised to have come across this post! My wife and I purchased zMrs Kitty from the person you mentioned last fall. It’s currently in Chula Vista and we are in the process of doing a complete overhaul and restoration to her. We are retiring in a few years and plan taking a few years, cutting the dock lines and cruising down the Pacific and down through the Canal.

it’s a dream boat for us. It needed some love after the last owner but we are getting her there.

    Hi Jim:
I just found this post! I have a 1958 42' steel Roamer that has been converted to a trawler (photo below). It is now powered with a single 3208 Cat NA engine, and has a 12kw hydraulic bow thruster. The hull number on the registration has been recorded incorrectly somewhere along the line, as ROX-417. Based on the hull number format in your database, as well as actual measurements of these hulls that I've found elsewhere, my best guess is that the correct number is likely ROX-42-017. If I could find the number somewhere on the hull, I would like to confirm it. Any ideas where I might find it? Thank you!

    Hi John -
Great find - she looks a tad been different than the stock model to be sure. Still, a "survivor". When researching the hull # the best place to look is atop the starboard engine stringer alongside the the factory installed motors. Don't have factyory installed motors, hmm,,..., hopefully the stringers are still there,, otherwise doubtful the factory engine hatches ( another great place to look) are present either.
IN any case, thanks for bringing ole'42 to our attention. One of the "more different" ones to be sure.
    Cheers!
    - Eric

Hello Eric, thank you for the reply!
Your '57 Roamer looks like the same hull as the original one in mine. That is sure a classic beauty!
you're right that the original engine hatches are no longer present, but the original engine stringers are still there. I will take a close look at the starboard stringer to see if it's there.
    Thanks!

    Roamerman -
How about shooting us some interior photos - we'd love see how the transformation went. That and her new name, eh?
    Looks pretty well sorted.
    Cheers!

    Hi Eric:
Her name is "Mary Lynn", and she's been plying the waters of Georgian Bay and the northern great lakes since 2006. The steel work and mechanical systems were executed very well, but the interior, while pretty, was built like a house rather than a boat. As a result, there were problems with condensation and mold. Now that I'm retired, I have stripped the interior and have begun rebuilding the living area. So far I have cleaned and coated the interior steel and spray foamed her interior above the waterline. I'm also refinishing the interior bottom and bilge since I can get at everything now. I'll see how much I can get done by the spring... o_O

Looking to purchase RXP 37 1509R. It is located on Lake of the Ozarks. The boat name is Thoroughbred. Can you tell me if it is on your list of Known Survivors? upload_2021-10-19_14-37-20.jpeg

Hmm,..., let's see, ...., no. we hadn't yet found RXP-37-1509R (with the "R" meaning built in CC's Holland, Michigan) - she has not been sighted before. Interestingly, her sister-ships have:

    RXP-37-2509A (Element 13/AL Falcon") - 1966
    RXP-37-3509 ("Knot Yet") - 1967 and,
    RXP-37-4509 ("Jolleymon III") - 1968.

Five of the ten 1965 CC Roamer Riviera 37s built and listed in the "Essential Guide to Chris-Crafts" (author Joseph Conrad) have been found and noted on the the "List of Known Roamers" - yours make six. Those '65 ALs are:

RXP-37-1502R ("Ivy Crystal") - Chicago, IL
    RXP-37-1504R ("NFI") - NFI
RXP-37-1502R ("Enterprize") - Clearwater Beach, FL
    RXP-37-15**R ("Aluminacion") - Sacramento, CA.
    And now:
RXP-37-1509 (Thoroughbed") - Lake of the Ozarks, MI

    Excellent!
Have her surveyed and audio-gauged (check for corrosion) - but if she's always been a "fresh water" boat, you shouldn't find anything wrong (fingers crossed).
Do tell us a bit more history and equipment (engines?).
    Cheers!
    Eric
1967 CC Roamer Riviera 37' (AL) - "Tin Tonic"
    RXP-37-3501 -(built December 1966).

Unless I missed it, the most famous boat on Lake Minnetonka is not yet on this list. "Seanote II" is a 1970 58 foot Riviera with 12V71's and 2 generators. It is listed as Hull #11 so you can formulate the correct full number. This boat made an ice breaking run across Lake Minnetonka last week and this was livestreamed on youtube for several days. The youtuber called it a 50 ton yacht, but eventually gave in and called it a 45 ton because it is listed as 90,000 lb displacement. I believe with low fuel 12V71's and two generators it is probably more like 80,000 lbs. It was a charter boat on Lake Minnetonka for many years and has changed hands twice in the past year.

I see someone else has converted a Roamer hull to a trawler. Makes me feel a little less of a traitor. Thank you, JohnM, we can now form a club of our own! As I mentioned before, I don’t get around to posting very often, but here is a current picture of Tinacious. 58-0501. Home port is Marathon, FL. Eric, please update the ‘list’. Art -
Never fear, "Tinacious" always looms large when we consider great Roamers.
Simply love the concept - reminds me of a Nordhaven to be sure.
She's definitely on the "List" - email me at alloyed2sea AT yahoo.com for an updated copy of your own.
    Cheers!

My brother purchased a 37' aluminum Roamer a couple of years ago, however it was from Chicago and it is a Convertible, no Hard top. I do not have the hull number. Ray

I purchased this 35' 1965 express late last summer in Cornucopia, Wisconsin I was very familiar with the boat and have always admired it.
Have not found the hull number yet to verify, any idea's where cc put it. ????
I will be moving it to Duluth mn in late June, rebuilding starboard engine now.

Well as it turns out I had some not so accurate information on the boat, it's actually a 1965 33' Riviera hull number rxa33114 ( 14th one built in 65 ) .
I found some contact information for a owner before the one I purchased it from and he emailed me lots of pictures and info
As I understand only 55 of these were built from 65 to 67.....

Good Morning Roamer lovers! I am now the proud owner of a 78' Roamer!!! I want to clear up a few items listed above. I just bought RAP-70-517, there are two 70' hulls and both hulls were completed in 1978. RAP-70-516 is named Chief and sits right next to the boat i just bought. My boat started life as Red Rover, then Brown N' Serve, Right of Passage and most recently Southwind II. I am renaming her STELLA MARIS. She was extended in 1993 from 70'10" to 78'2" by Rybovich. She is moored in Little Rock AR and there are 12 other Roamers in the same marina. There is one of the 68' Yachfish's being restored in an enclosed boat house next to me. Pictures to come.

"Brown 'n Surf" or Serve? The one I was very familiar with was owned by Myers back in 1974
