Has anyone found a "reasonable" solution for a satellite internet provider? We have an Intellian V85NX dish.
A few days ago someone advertised a new unlimited $999 service on a FB group. Look up Concord Marine Electronics in FTL not sure what the fine print is...
Concord marine has a long history of shady business dealings. We hired them to outfit a brand new 73 ft trawler in 07. The electronics they installed had already been installed and returned as defective from previous vessels. They knew this as they installed them on the first vessel. They then proceeded to charge t and m to trouble shoot the gear. We finally called the manufacturers and got the full story. This was over 100k in gear that was junk. Con artist. Run don't walk from them.
Great question. Wish I had a straight forward answer. Below $2k/month, I guess. We tried out a package, speed was good. Enough to continue working and stream videos. But,$9k/month. Sigh. Looking for a better option, but if need be. We can go weekly We’ve been using SIM card. Which runs about $420/month. 3 Bahamas SIMs. Which works great, of course the downside is when the boat is ‘off the grid’. A weekly program is probably where we’d end up. Only turn it on, when there is an absolute need for work or school. I know the technology is changing quickly, so it’s a moving target on finding a good solution.
That’s That’s good to know. We talked to them. Don’t have the numbers in front of me, but they claim high speed until you reach a data limit. But, don’t really tell you where is goes from there. The other problem is you have to purchase a new dish.
And that's why I asked. No, while prices are decreasing, I don't yet know of any good satellite internet solution for under $2k per month.
We ve been using a MyIslandWifi sim in the Bahamas for almost 3 years now. They re a reseller for BTC so it a really a BTC sim. $85 a month unlimited. Works almost everywhere. Only dead spot is around Warderick wells in Exuma Park no limits, no throttle down. Some months with a full house we use well over 100 gig. Only issue is that they only have so many accounts available and have a wait list. but at that price it s worth avoiding the few dead spots
