I'd bet the sunny side looks a lot different and lighter. Yellow is like that.

You got a 62' ft boat painted for $24k? That's a hell of a deal (although it was 6 years ago). Have a friend getting quotes for hull only on his 36' Sabre and they are pushing $22k just for that. I've been told to expect $500/ft for below rub rail.

It all depends on how hard the prep is and how hungry the yard is. But this was done by a very reputable yard in Ft. Laud that's been in business for over 30 years. They did an incredible job, but guess it was $400 per foot back then. It's an express MY, so no transom painted in the hull paint job, but very tall hull.

The second one is the color on a lot of Paint manufacturers "Fighting lady yellow" these days, straight out of the can. I like it in the pale color.......not the darker one....... I think you're boat would look better Ice Blue.......

Varnish sounds high to me, but I'm not sure how much you have . Is it just trim and toe rails?
    OR
Cockpit bulkheads and doors too ? All exterior or interior work to.

Just trim and rails, that is high IMO.

the rest of it sounds about right.

If you picked up this Picnic boat last week, I happened to be standing on a nearby dock. She is needs lots of work but I think you got a reasonable deal. I can tell you that I just got a price to go from JetStick II of JetStick III and it was $20k+ from Hinckley not the $9k you mentioned. If that price is correct, I would jump on it.

New interior and exterior cushions $5-7k
    Jetstick III upgrade- $20k
Teak on that boat was well below Hinckley standard. If you even go to say 80% of that goal you have several thousand dollars of work unless you can and want to do it yourself.
Window Frames needed to be repainted.
Bulkhead frames should be more closely accessed by an expert
Hull paint was fair/good overall but a $10-12k Hinckley paint job in he near future depending on what is acceptable to you.

Then you have engine and Jetdrive to deal with.

The rest of the boat was all in serviceable condition.

Total cost to make her not stand out a a gathering of two or more picnic boats is $40k. ($30-35k at other non-hinckley yard) When you add that to the $190+/- you paid barring surprises you are at fair market value for a low hour boat.
That is a job well done in my book!

Sounds right, except one Hinckley helm chair cost $3k to recover (not replace) It has a leather chair on most versions of the boat.

Mike, likely a different (nicer!) boat that you saw. Mine is a 75k basket case that needed everything. mechanicals now fully sorted @ 10k, upholstery and canvas done (4k), and after haul out will do the paint and wood packages @ $30. Basically a zombie brought back to life -- she runs great, but please don't look too close until spring :)

How about a couple "during" pics instead ? Here, I'm experimenting with a temporary cheap-fix called TopCoat F11 (sep. thread over in general yachting discussion), before we get to the paint shop. Wood will be a winter project for the yard, but at least all the mechanicals are now sorted.

Anyone know this boat ? I bought her from Mystic Connecticut, guys name was solomon steiner. the boat was missing a starter, heat exchanger, alternator, shutoff solenoid, raw water strainer, just a really random list of about $6k worth of parts that seem to be odd / unlikely theft items.

Deal was done trhu a broker, so I have no contact with previous owner. Sure would be a fun phone interview to ask about some of this stuff. Also, there were 19 various forms of oil containers aboard. Humm. No evidence of leaking.

Basically a back-lot "barn find" Hinckley, priced as such, but what a weird bunch of stuff going on here. Also, nearly zero evidence of any humans ever having been below decks. Spotless. Clearly the stove was never used. The inside is immaculate, the exterior a freaking *mess*. The whole thing is super bizarre.

And I"m delighted I pulled the trigger ! Mechanicals are now fully sorted, and it runs beautifully. By spring, she will look new.
