I ve been watching the same thing. There is definitely some southerly motion on the west side of that cluster north of GB

Andros is mostly mangrove so plenty of water there and it s very flat. It has no effect on storms. Isaias’ demise started two days ago when it approached the ragged cats and the tongue of the ocean. Bahamas radar has been showing the eye opening up and some dry air being entrapped from the SW and S

not the first time NHC keeps a storm at a higher level just to make sure people don’t let their guard down. They just brought it to new levels this time. And then you have all the guys running websites and blogs desperate for traffic...
I expect to tune in shortly and see the storm has shifted well to the east, wrapped around that circulation. Doesn't change anything for Florida, really, but this could still turn into something significant for the outer banks.

Isaias weakened to a tropical storm, but it's expected to strengthen to a hurricane overnight. Isaias is expected to approach southeastern Florida Saturday night. BY NOAA"

Ok, "NOAA"

well the NHC handles tropical system at NOAA and it all fairness they do a pretty darn good job especially when it comes to tracks. Intensity not so much and that willingly admit to it.

but this one is a real head scratcher... between the well forecasted shear and the dry air it really didn’t stand a chance. Yes recon found hurricane strength winds in the NE quadrant but never on the other side.

BTW has one one seen a single weather station reporting tropical storm winds along the Florida Coast ? I can’t... Juno Beach peaked at 30 kts sustained overnight. Gov Cut and Fowey peaked also around 30 yesterday. That’s not even TS strength.

And sustained winds are used for classification. Not gusts.

this isias must have been made in China. Poorly designed (it struggled for days), poorly assembled (never really got an eye) and fully hyped... :)

Funny Pascal. Isaias is welcome back anytime. A very enjoyable hurricane!

Isaias hasn't finished this session yet. Expected to regain hurricane strength by South Carolina. Hurricane conditions in NE SC and SE NC tonight.

I know Facebook isn't popular on this site, but a friend of mine made this and it's too funny not to share...

Yep, that was a difficult report to make from the beach.

Were still waiting for some rain. Been dry for a while up here.

Oh, The storm has already passed?
Darn, Guess I need to get back into the sun and finish my yard work.

been hearing this for three days now... radar presentation is still pretty bad... 40kts of SW shear... recon could only find 997mb... and only a hand full of 50kts flight level wind readings up in the NE quadrant. This is donkey is done.

I hope it turns out to be nothing but it's not done until it passes further. The maps right now show some very high wind gusts over much of NE SC and then Eastern NC and a lot of rain. I was there for Matthew and there right after Florence and flooding remains a threat to those areas. Right now it's showing making landfall in a very short time about the NC/SC border and continuing over land with 70 mph winds through the entirety of Eastern NC. Charleston, SC is already experiencing flooding. Surge is 3-5'. On the other hand not overly concerned. However, eastern NC not feeling as fortunate yet. On top of that, another storm is moving east to join it so areas like Philadelphia and NY are projected to see very strong winds and a lot of rain tomorrow.

I hope it clears without any major damage but it's just not looking that hopeful now.

Naw, just another rain event.

The chart shows 60 knt winds. Nobody has been able to detect any thing close to that since it hit Andros.
BTW, 4 dry days, grass looking poor here.

I missed the opening song. Usually agree it's not over till da fat lady sings. I really don't think it ever started.

Getting back a few days, Any damage in it's path?
I hope all is well back in the islands.
Anybody hear anything?

Yes, passed well at sea. However, it is back to CAT 1 and it's very close to making landfall in a very vulnerable area.

Yes, winds now at 85 mph, the highest they've been. Also, closest it's been to land since the Bahamas and closest to a direct hit in the US. Very mild flooding in Myrtle Beach and moderate storm surge so far.

And 47EBCC60-A551-4460-9033-5B94FF7078E5.jpeg 47EBCC60-A551-4460-9033-5B94FF7078E5.jpeg look at the radar... this is the worst looks hurricane I have ever seen in 40 years dealing with tropical cyclones.

“I See You re an Ass” (Iasias for short) is no worst Than the average summer storm line.

Ware are you getting your data from?
It's not from the US Navy or any other reliable source.
