    Am preparing to commission a small technology demonstrator powercat (10m/34ft) later this year and hope to install 2 x 10kW rim-driven thrusters as main propulsion (replacing the factory default diesel sail drives). Currently in conversation with Dutch Vetus and British TSL both of whom have suitable units available - will keep the forum posted on developments. One dilemma is whether to go for azimuth-steerable units and ditch the rudder or use fixed in-line units and stick with the conventional steering gear - would love to hear comments on this ...

    Go for it all the way; azimuth-steerable units and ditch the rudder.....
