Some fish from this last weeks fishing... if we had entered the derby going on at the marina we would have won $20K with either of these dolphin. Yes I know these are not boat pics but the the Sea Deuce is a great platform for catching and enjoying while doing so! We caught about a dozen each day and the first day we lost the biggest one, but Friday we had a blue marlin on for about 10 minutes attached to a Shimano TLD 20 with 20 pound line; it did a bunch of jumps and some really exciting tailwalking very close to the boat- that was in 1000 feet of water.

Out with the old, hot 12v incandescent and in with the 12v LED! I removed the three forward bilge lights and replaced them with the LED lights. Next is the upper deck under helm, cockpit bilge and engine room. This is just the center fwd bilge.

I bought them on Amazon- the light output is a warm white and it's quite bright. I'll post details a bit later but I bought only three to see if I liked them and I certainly do.

The lights are Kohree 12v natural light dome fixture, three for $45.98 - 420 lumens - 210 per side and each side has a switch.

My second deck lights controller gave up the ghost after 4-5 years and so the whole system was replaced- no pics because it looks exactly the same save for the controller is now wireless- as are all the rest of the accent exterior LED lights. New under rail cockpit LED rope lights as well- I made a slight installation error and they lasted only about 18 months, the new ones should last the 5 years or so as have the others. Still plenty of smaller projects which keep the boat fresh and new keeping me busy...

New under the helm light; put the LED bar prior but I'll most likely move that to near the port side rod rack just in front of the helm.

The second deck brow has a huge space we use for life jackets and rod storage. It needed new lighting- and now it has it... image2.JPG Old original compact florescent lights come out... image3.JPG

I'll also mention LOWEs sells lots of 120 volt LED stick lights and various lights that I've used with great success in engine rooms and stuff like that.

Yes they do and the big advantage over Amazon or other online retailers is that you can hold the product in your hand- but with 12volt LED it's tougher to find stuff locally. These lights look like they'll last at least 5-8 years. I'm a bit loathe to put them near the rudders- but at $15 each what can go wrong?

BTW those old units were 120v- new ones are 12volt- so of course the wiring was not simply plug and play. I ran a wire from the under helm to the brow for the source.

Finally the engine room gets it's two new lights, they are quite bright while still drawing less than half an amp each...

No idea where the boat is but I sure miss having Bamboo on the site. It was great having an active Donzi participant that did such great posts and pictures.

I spoke to him yesterday actually, he gave me a call as we've been friends for a long time. I also employed his son as a mate a few times. He's been full time on a newish Azimut of all things for the past couple of years. He's too busy dealing with lots of boat issues to play on the internet! hehehehee.

Err, ahh, eah,,, Bamboo saw it coming. I don't think he got screwed. I believe he had a great time learning his boat and kept the maintenance and some upgrades always in motion. I'm glad he shared so much with us here only at Y F.
Skippy J just posted Bamboo is on a Mut. Only a few kids in the world I could imagine can whip a mut, learn her and properly manager her. It may take a while to crawl every where but he is a rare man and will do it.
In a few more months, ask him where that brown striped wire goes and how long it is. Exact answers will respond.
I look forward to his new post. He may end up becoming our Mut expert...
