The 1937 27m German luxury yacht, M/Y Carin II now M/Y Prince Charles which was owned by Hermann Goering until 1946, a military leader during the German Nazi period has been fully restored to her original condition. The restoration project took place in Egypt over a period of several years.

The full history of the yacht can be found on the following link:

Good to see that fine old yacht got over that bad Karma that came with her first owner. Took a long time! Many people I know (including me) had doubts that it would be a realistic project to do such a restauration in Egypt and I confess I am surprised to see her afloat looking so nice.

Does anyone have updated information about where Carin II/Prince Charles is now, is it still in El Gona in Egypt? I have special interest in the yacht as my mother took a photo of it with Göring onboard in July 1939 when she visited Germany.

The yacht is still in El Gouna. I know the responsible Captain quite well if you would like to get in touch with him.

Thank you for the answer, and good to hear it is still in El Gouna. I would very much like to come in contact with the captain, plan to travel to El Gouna some time during the winter.

Here is the photo my mother took of Carin II in July 1939. It was sailing on what then was called Kaiser Wilhelm Channel in Germany, which I think now is Kieler channel. You may see Göring sitting on top in his characteristically white uniform, waving an arm. Just to clarify, my mother was very anti nazi

I punched in Abiedos Marina on Google earth and you can see the Carin 2 docked there. At least the image I got shows it quite clearly if you zoom in on the satellite pic.

Visiting Egypt at the moment will not be possible. I hope the situation will change in the near future. Send me your name and contact details and I will pass them over to the Captain.
