    Does anyone know a source for a suitable replacement for the water tank sending unit in my 2000 45 express?

    the original is a VDO with numbers 40/102 828/1/1 7.07

    the original seems to have lost it's float arm somewhere in the tank

    thanks!

    The issue I have with reed switch sender is that they provide a course indication of water level. Some as course as full. 3/4, 1/2 and etc. The ultra sonic device can detect level changes as low as 1/8 of and inch. Drop in replacement for most gauges and very reliable. https://www.tek-tanks.com/level-indication/ultrasonic-level-indicators/ The website indicates they are closed due to CV-19 but will respond to emails.

    Yeah, I messed around with repairing and upgrading the old head hunter system, ended up just ripping out the old and inserting Wema. Very good call.

    KUS and WEMA are the same people. Just use the right standard when ordering the water level sender and depth of tank.
    • American Standard 240-33 ohms (240 ohms at empty , 33 ohms at full)
    • European Standard 0-180 ohms (0 ohms at empty, 180 ohms at full)
    Have not had to mess with the fuel level senders, so do not if they have different standards.

    For red-necks and swamp folk, that means;
    • American Standard Stewart Warner (240 ohms at empty , 33 ohms at full)
    • European Standard VDO (0 ohms at empty, 180 ohms at full)

    Heads up, they are not the best in accepting or returning calls. Be persistent with your outreach. I bought several parts through Fisheries Supply in lieu of the struggle to communicate. You can order everything, including custom lengths. Post any questions, as I'm pretty familiar (as are others, I'm sure).

    Tap on Kerry directly (if she is still there). My past great contact.

    On the left coast, If these guys don't have it in hand, they have to wait for WEMA to open also. Then shipping there and then to you.
    Yes, this virus thing even messes up our boats also. Hate it when that happens.

    Now the fun part. VDO makes SW compatible equipment.
    US companies make VDO compatible equipment.
    You need to CYA if the tech-no text on the box does not make sense.

    Check the resistance specs quoted or the red-necks and swamp folk test;
    Tap the signal wire to ground, if the gauge goes to full, it's SW, if it goes empty, it's VDO.

    Yes Sir ! You got it.
    I’ve already started to print stuff like this out and add it to my “ info file” on the boat. I tend to forget things like this , especially electrical stuff.
    It’s very much appreciated .

    Yes, I had to wait, but at least I got my order placed, dimensions submitted, and process started. They have a lot more buying power than I do, so I knew they'd get me to the finish line while I focused on other details.

    WEMA is no longer, they became KUS. Last I checked they stopped selling to anyone except dealers, they wouldn't sell to me anymore with a marine business and stated that. Lewismarine is a wholesaler.

    Pretty good chance that Lewis would be quick to deliver. Great to know going forward. The two are very close by each other...
